It weighed 300lbs more than a 350 gasser or about 60% heavier.

My father ran 5.7 diesel’s and I can attest that outside the motor mounting points and the transmission mounting pattern you would be hard pressed to find parts that were fully interchangeable

Our neighbors claim to fame was being able to muscle around a 350 without a hoist, he couldn’t budge the diesel.

I have no idea about all the differences between all the brand engines with the same name. To me a Chevy 350 and olds 350 is the same engine.

I think diesels were overbuilt back then. Maybe iron was cheap at the time. At one time they did have a manufacturer try to make a diesel from a gas block and it was a disaster. Can't remember if it was Ford or gm that did that

Oldsmobile, and most of the problems were solved too late.

I can’t talk about politics but there is a very good chance there will be a roll back on emissions requirements starting in 2025. Time will tell.

Looks like Tier 4 final wasn't final after all. Starting in 2029 there is another round for the offroad diesel machines. They already have Def and dpf filters though. Makes no sense
