Diesels have doubled in hp.

It was a normal 350 gasser with new heads, no special 454 block
It weighed 300lbs more than a 350 gasser or about 60% heavier.

My father ran 5.7 diesel’s and I can attest that outside the motor mounting points and the transmission mounting pattern you would be hard pressed to find parts that were fully interchangeable

Our neighbors claim to fame was being able to muscle around a 350 without a hoist, he couldn’t budge the diesel.

I fear the diesel power wars are going to come to an end with the next round of emissions in the light duty trucks (2500 and 3500)
 
I thought Tier 4 was the last one. What's involved in Tier 5?
Looks like Tier 4 final wasn't final after all. Starting in 2029 there is another round for the offroad diesel machines. They already have Def and dpf filters though. Makes no sense
