Did you register your phone(s) with donotcall.gov?

I hate telemarketing phone calls during dinner time, I registered my home phone and cell phone with donotcall.gov few months ago, since then no more annoying phone calls disrupting our dinners.

Once in a while, may be once a month, I still received junk calls from those telemarketing companies, I told them my phone is in the do-not-call list, he/she said "sorry, we'll remove your phone from our calling list right now".

National Do Not Call Registry is one of the few Federal Government programs that works great without any cost to ordinary people.

there's so many millions of people who aren't on that list.. there's plenty of numbers to still call.

I'm on the list, registered my cell phones too..

I still get onslaughts of calls through the day, my caller id has all these out of area numbers on them almost daily. nobody's home to answer them tho... and if I'm home and answer, after yelling hello 10 times, someone comes on the line and starts reading a script and when you try to interrupt they keep reading like a robot and they won't stop until they're done reading.
THAT's the part that really [censored] me off..

If I put a label on my letter box stating no advertising or junk mail, people are obliged by law to not stuff my letter box full of junk.

If I put a "please do not knock, No salespeople thankyou" sign on my door, the varmint are obliged by law to not knock on my door.

Do not call is the only way of doing the same to my phone...

do you not filter spam on your e-mail ?

I got a call offering to clean my air duct with some discount, I said I don't have air conditioning and the telemarketer said:" YOU ARE A LIAR, EVERYONE IN IRVINE HAS CENTRAL AIR".

Good program, and it works. I'm registered, and the only real bothersome calls now are from my phone/internet company, trying to sell me TV service. They're exempt because I'm already a customer. Otherwise, there's occasionally an automated message on my machine to "call about your credit card."

a spam filter was automatically on my email and sometimes IT is an annoyance when real mail shows up in there. the rest seems a bit excessive for a sporadic 'annoyance'.

As a point of fact, there is no scripted response for this as the guy was dumbfounded and speechless. Feel free to use this technique with no licensing fee.

Start using Google Voice if possible. It has a number of tools to manage the incoming calls. One of them is a spam filter that is a more robust tool compared to the do not call lists. It also enables you to block individual numbers.
