Yes they did. I noticed this on a XG7317 I purchased about a month and a half ago. They also are spraying some shiny oily substance inside the filter too, Jay (works at Fram) said this is just an anti corrosive.

Why do they need to spray oil inside the filter? Don't oil filters move quickly? They don't usually stay on the shelf for long.

Did they finally make the date code easier to read?

I think the oil spray is due to longer shelf time vs their other filters. Orange cans get bought up quickly. Followed by the TG filters. I imagine the Ultra's customers take quite some time before buying the next filter.

If they have to spray anti corrosive, are they using a low grade steel insert? No zinc-dichromate?

Worth pointing out that Wix XP doesn't do this. No oil smell in the filter, and it's from 2011, four years old, no sign of rusting.

Like with emissions?

What do we have,,,,,low emissions, ultra low, then super ultra low......kind of running out of space......we kind of painted ourselves in a corner with 0w-20.....might have to go to a -5w-10 in the future.

Aka the Y2K glitch

Aka gas stations having to requip in order to sell $2.00+ fuel

Plus having places like walmart where the shelves fit 10 deep and the stuff doesn't get rotated or gets stuck in the warehouse for who-knows-how-long. It's a nice touch for us customers really. Because the stores will never open and see if they have gone "bad".

There's a place we get gas when snowmobiling that's a combination bar/cafe/gas station. They only have 2 pumps, and they're the old ones with the mechanical dials on them rather than a digital display. Their solution was to cut the price in half and put that amount on the pump, then double whatever you pumped and ring you up for that amount. They put a sign on the pump that says something to the effect of "Actual price is double what the pump reads". They still to this day do it this way.
