Have a new car/oil spec to ask about.

2003 Chrysler Sebring 2.7L - M1 High Mileage 5w30 API SL

Thanks again for this thread random, it is fantastic!

Hmm, Sump x TBN x HP / 2.5

6 x 8.7 x 250 / 2.5 = 5,220
You're answer 5,477

I'm getting close I think.

This is very interesting! Can you run mine?

'10 Mazda 3 - 2.5L - Chevron Supreme 5W-20 conventional
All short trips less than 3 miles - ~5k miles driven per year.

Thanks for the answer! If any non-BITOGer runs across this thread, they'll think we're absolutely nuts.

Ive posted this on a couple Honda forums that im on, and they all think im nuts for recommending 9k OCI on Royal Purple. They are still stuck on the 3k/3month rule lol

OK, have a few to try then.

1997 Chevy C2500, Vortec 350. Rotella 15W-40 CJ-4, or Maxlife 10W-40. Mostly short trips, but the occasional long drive or tow.

1994 BMW 325is, Syntech SN 5W-50, or Rotella Syn CJ-4 5W-40. Driven fairly hard (or tracked), but always warmed up fully. Occasional short trip driving.

There is at least 1 post in UOA with conventional at more than 9k miles, the UOA shows great result.

Chevy: 6226 or 7 months BMW: 9835 or 12 months 10759 or 13 months
For track days, just do half the intervals i gave.

I have devised a way to factor in makeup oil into the formula.

For example: My Civic does 5512 miles on Pennzoil Conventional but burns oil at a rate of 1qt/3000 miles. I can extend my oil change to approximately 7800 miles. Furthermore, using Pennzoil Ultra while burning 1qt/3000 miles, I can go 15300 miles. This function is not linear.

It makes me wonder if manufactures expect the oil to be topped-off when specifying long oil change intervals.

Post a few cars and give the amount of oil it burns. Ill see what it comes up with.

Our 2001 Jetta 2.0 NA (4.25qt sump) used to consume 2.5 quarts over a 10K mile OCI. This was on Rotella T6 5w-40 (SM).

They're the ones who are nuts.

By the way, run me another one. Switch my PYB to M1 for the G37 and see what you come up with. Thanks again! You're making life interesting here again.

The more calculations i do on Xw-30 M1 the less faith i have in it, just not as good as its made out to be.

What does your calculator say for my cars, and I'm wondering if grade matters to it?

2008 Honda CR-V, 70,000 total miles, 2.4L I-4, 5 quart sump
2005 Acura MDX, 90,000 total miles, 3.5L V-6, 4.5 quart sump

I am interested in your calculator's estimation of both when using either M1 0W-20 or M1 0W-30.

Thanks.

I'd like to play to.

Vehicle is a 2006 Toyota Sienna (FWD) 3.3L 3MZ-FE. Current fill is Valvoline SynPower 5W-20. My "normal" fill would be PP 5W-30. Also curious how it would be on Mobil Delvac Elite 222 0W-30, and for kicks, on PYB 5W-30.
