Where does Denso rate in all this as far as flow and filtering?

Flow is outstanding. But in later tests where I learned how to get more consistant results, filtration is just "OK" in my book.
I switched to Toyota TRD filters with a 98% efficiency @ 20 microns and full synthetic media for my Tacoma.
The standard OEM Denso is still a pretty good filter overall I think.

Your testing is the reason I picked up a PureONE PL20195 tonight. Will be swapping out the Denso with the PureONE tomorrow ... even though I just changed oil & filter 500 miles ago - using synthetic, so many more miles to go.
No biggie ... $5 isn't gonna kill me for wasting a Denso.

Ouch ... that's not a good rating. If I was to use the TRD, I'd certainly go for the full synthetic media with the 98% @ 20 micron rating.
But, for half the price, I can use the PureONE PL20195 and get 99.9% @ 20 microns.

The Denso filtering and flow is making wonder if the Toyota sludge problem still exists if an aftermarket filter is used. Amsoil stopped carrying their oil filters for Toyotas (maybe not all but for some current Toyota engines).
I just watched a video and it said the Royal purple is 99.9%@25 microns and 90%@12 microns. Yes Champ Labs makes the Royal Purple, TRD filter and AFE Pro-Guard D2 oil filters. All three appear to be clones sharing the same media.

I hear ya. You pay for the heavy construction. And if a threaded end bypass is all that important to you, you get that too.

I hear ya. You pay for the heavy construction. And if a threaded end bypass is all that important to you, you get that too.

Naah. The aftermarket filters are pretty much invisible on the pressure curve for street engines.

Lot of similarities here! Note the *AA* stamping on both, although the Delco has 8 holes vs 6 for TRD. Insides look almost the same as well.
