Denso Alternator Longevity...

Gf's dad has an 00 Tundra with 290k mi on the original alternator. My car is on its 3rd one. I'd have to look up now long the 1st one lasted. It was replaced with one from the dealer that lasted 13 months. Replaced that with a Denso reman that's now covered in p/s fluid

GS400. 1uz that's (obviously) very similar to the 2uz in the Tundra.

2003 V8 4runner with 306k alternator still running strong. I replaced the brushes last week out of boredom.

I would guess that the OP's 1995 Denso alternator was from the good days of Nippon Denso parts. Likely the other older vehicle success stories as well.

My personal best alternator tale was the Hitachi unit in a 2001 Altima GLE purchased new. I took it to 160k/15 years, then my Stepson took it to about 215k.

My 1990 4x4 Toyota pickup was on its original denso so I replaced it with the same part. It would probably still be going but I had let it sit a couple months and the battery was dead so I proceeded to roll started it. Well that was enough to make that alternator start smoking. Lol shut it down and replaced it and the battery. I’m sure it was on its way out anyway. The new alternator from the dealership is a reman but I assume it’s way better than the parts stores have.

OEM reman is usually better than aftermarket new.

Well so far it’s been 26 years and 300,000 on the Accord and 23 years and 460,000 on the Sienna, with something similar for the ECHO. None of my old cars have had the alternator replaced nor repaired yet.

Incredible, just attribute it to better quality back then especially Japanese stuff.
