Del taco.

Jack in the Box is terrible.

Myself.....I like hole in the wall "Mom & Pop" places. We have a Taco Stand down the street that's 10X better than ANY fast food chain! I get some Al Pastor & Barbacoa tacos along with a Michelada with Shrimp & Mexican Jerky!!
Yup. I go to the bad parts of town for Mexican food. No A/C in the summer in these places. No luxuries.

There's a Taco Bell near me that's in a building about 2 years old and for most of this last summer had no working AC in the dining room. I think the building has two RTUs (rooftop units) and one of them was not working at all, so if it got much above 85F out, the single working unit could not keep up.

Pup n taco was my favorite. Taco Bell bought almost every location in a $50 million dollar deal. Devastating.

There is a Dell Taco in Clovis NM. My son in law is stationed at Cannon AFB and when I visited them we went to that place...first time for me...The food was great..everything we ordered was good..Ended up going back 4 other times in the 10 days I was there...Wish we had one here in Louisville KY...

I haven't been to a Del Taco in years. When I was in high school in the early1970's they had a Friday night special, 5 tacos for $0.75.
A buddy had an International Harvester TravelAll and a group of us would head over to Del Taco after a football game, pull into the drive through and give them an order for about 50 tacos. Amazing how much a 16 or 17 year old could eat.

I can imagine that the outdoor dining in a place like Yermo is only survivable a few months a year. The rest of the time it's going to be eating in your car with the A/C blasting on full.

The one in downtown Barstow is still run by original family and has some one off menu items. Going by the burger den was a good shortcut before they moved the ag. Inspection on the 15s
There is one in Barstow and another in Lenwood both still ran by the original guy. I used to run all the way up field Rd to get around the bug check.

There's a Del Taco 12 miles away in the next town. I will go there if I'm in the area running errands. No indoor seating during covid; it's hit or miss now due to "staffing issues".

I go there for tostadas, value tacos and crinkle fries. I have never had a burger there, although I always threaten to get one but chicken out at the counter.

When I was working in San Jose, I'd drive 30 minutes into Campbell to have lunch there. One day, they told me they have no taco meat. WHAT?? Next visit, they were closed.

Yes, better than Taco Bell. Again, it's not saying much but people in Manteca are just more pleasant than normal. The bay area folks moving in are changing this, though.

I was in California 6 8 years ago. Del Taco was a cheap dinner for a couple of days.
If you go to Houston go to Taco a go go. Had the wife fly them home a couple of times.
🥲🌮

Mighty Taco (MT) is the go-to fast Mexican food if you happen to find yourself in Western New York (State), i.e., attending a Bills home game.

When visiting friends & family in Buffalo, I make sure to have at least one lunch at MT - three Mightys on a hard shell *Hot*, chips & cheese, and med Loganberry. Drinking Loganberry is the equivalent of celery & blue cheese when having hot wings.

I enjoy both Del Taco & Taco Bell. We even call them DT or TB. With my iron stomach, I have no aftermath issues like commonly joked about. When I lived in Perris, CA we'd get coupons for DT in the mail & that was our dinner once a week on the nights where we just were short on time. Now that I'm back in San Diego, I don't get the coupons, maybe I'm outside of their mailing radius. Last night after my son's water polo game, we went to Sombrero (Mexican food place blink182 sings about if you're not old 😋) & I crushed a big ole plate of carne asada fries w/ beans & extra cheese. 🤤

The California place I wanted to try last time I was there was Juan Pollo..... They were in the LA area but I saw they had one location in Barstow where I was staying. Turns out they were closed! Totally vacant building.

The guy who owns Juan Pollo now owns Roy's in Amboy CA, which is a favorite of mine. I figured I'd throw a few bucks his way by eating at his restaurant. Maybe next time!
