Icing is the biggest problem I've had with dehumidifiers. It helps to clean the coils of any built up dust and turn the humidistat to a setting that the dehumidifier will cycle often.is it iced?
It seems to run normally but am only getting a few drops of water . Filter is clean . I'm assuming it's clean on the inside since I only used it one summer . I didn't check condenser .Unfortunately a lot of dehumidifiers don't last.
Is the compressor and fan running? How are any filters?
Is the condenser cold or is it iced?
The general rule is if the payback is > 8 years, the higher capital cost is not worth it.I get a year or two max out of them, and that’s really only 6 months of use per year. They are all junk now. I’m xclose to buying a whole home unit or a commercial one but at $2,000+ vs $150 every year I’m not sure it is worth it.
What brand is is? Does it flash a code on it's display? Like said, the new ones are really horrible. Especially the ones with a condensate pump in them as opposed to having a simple gravity feed. Many times it's the condensate pump that takes them out. Lots of youtube vidoes on it. Went through this a few times with family member's dehumidifiers.I bought a Dehumidifier last year and it work perfect all summer long . When I used it this year I noticed it isn't removing moisture .
What do I check first ?
Taotronic is the brand . Only code was for the filter .... but it is clean . I'm thinking the refrigerant leaked out because it worked fine last year before I stored .What brand is is? I've been so lucky with my ~15yr/old Danby unit. She's still chugging along and runs about continuously from June - October.
Did you youtube the code for this brand? You might find a helpful video. I believe it's rare to have a refrigerant leak on these. It's everything else that causes the pop can sized compressor to not run.Taotronic is the brand . Only code was for the filter .... but it is clean . I got my parents 40+ year dehumidifier running in the basement and it works fine .Agree with the “new ones are junk” comments. I’ve seen a lot of old units still working strong. Consider going to a second hand store or a pawn shop and getting an older unit for a couple of bucks. My last used purchase was a dorm-sized refrigerator for $2.99 and it works great.
