I just finished building my first HTPC (and what a PITA that was). I got an AMD Phenom x3 8750 BE (not Phenom II, 2.4 Ghz) for $35 used so I based the HTPC on that CPU.
I also had 2 x 1 GB of DDR2 RAM, so I wanted a MoBo that used DDR2 instead of the ubiquitous DDR3. This is the MoBo I ended up buying:
ASRock A785GXH/128M AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
Anyway, I noticed that aside from saving a few bucks from not having to buy a whole 4 GB of RAM, the prices for DDR2 and DDR3 are pretty much identical.
Just an observation as I thought there would be a price differential.
