Dashcam wiring issue

Hey guys, I've installed a few dashcams in modern cars (late-model Mustang & Canyon) simply by using a fuse adapter that takes place of the stock fuse in the fuse box. I simply chose a circuit that is switched, plug it into my camera and test it by turning on the ignition. The camera never powered on until I turned on the ignition.

I just purchased a 2024 Kia Forte and attempted the exact same install. Every fuse I chose powered up the camera without turning on the ignition, including a fuse marked "spare". I even used the fuse for the rear seat heater, which my car doesn't even have. They all powered up the camera as soon as I connected it.

Anybody ever found a workaround for this? I was trying to avoid tapping into wires, but if necessary...

Look for the fuse on the circuit for the radio, wipers or rear defroster. No way that any of those would be powered with the ignition off. Are you sure you are reading the fuse layout schematic correctly? What circuits did you try already?

Any chance you were trying circuits which power up in response to the door switch, then time out after the doors are closed and the ignition remains off?

I suppose it's possible it would power up the amp, but seat heaters?

Try tapping into the fuse for the wiper or the washer as shown in your photo.

I put it on the windshield washer circuit. Works great. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I suspect most of your fuses are hot and the accessories get a signal over the canbus network to boot up or shut down.
