Cub Cadet 42" or 44" Deck

The 42" is a shallow deck. It will bog down and blow out clumps if you try to mow or mulch too aggresively. They will do a good job on nice dry easy mowing. I personally would not go any smaller than the (present day) 2544 machine. The 44" gives awesome cut quality/consistancy

Which is the better mowing deck? The 42" has 2 blades and the 44" has 3 blades. Which one will give a better cut? I know that the 44" has a thicker deck housing.

I looked at all these decks when I got my 2554 and agree with Joel. Go for the 44" or go all the way to a 54". The 42" decks look light and shallow, and the 50" decks don't seem to be as heavy duty as the 44" and 54"
