CRV PCV Replacing

So our new-to-us CRV was said to use some oil. Haven't had long enough to verify that, but what the heck, I figured I might as well check the PCV valve--I don't recall it showing up on the service receipts, so maybe it's time (17 years and 160k on who knows what dealership oil). Took a look at one video and looked easy, and... went out and realized that I had watched the wrong one. If you look below you can see how much of a pain this one is.

My question is, for those who have done it, is this just the way it is, or is there some trick that makes this a 5 minute job? If this is just the way it is I'll order the valve and replace it--for the amount of effort it takes I'd rather not do it twice!
 
I did mine when I had to replace the radiator and thermostat. The other option is to do it when replacing the serpentine belt and tensioner but never done it this way myself.
