26 foot Penske truck with tow trailer. Averaged 8.8 MPG with a full load and towing 3500lb car. When driving through the smokie mountains the truck struggled to stay above 40 mph. The truck and trailer were brand new and only had 350 miles on it. The truck was a 2017 International diesel, with 7-speed trans. Cab was spacious and fit tow large dogs for the haul with ease. The radio had bluetooth and I was able to talk while hands-free.
I have ZERO complaints. Penske was cheaper then Uhaul as well.
I wouldn't hesitate to use Penske again as I was Very pleased.
I always go Penske when possible, Unless you happen to get the rare new uhaul, Penske equipment is much nicer, seems better maintained and its cheaper.
I left the Chicago area almost 15 years ago and moved to semi rural Indiana. Overall its better but the county I live in has become a meth/heroin hotspot, the schools are terrible and while the crime rate isn't exactly high, but its not low either. But hey, its cheap here and we have some land, and its pretty in its own way. We couldnt afford our house and land in many other places, but its cheap and I have learned you get what you pay for.
But.... Im Kinda over it, The local machine politics would give Chicagoland and former Mayor Daley a run for their money, the community is somewhat incestuous and if your not born and raised here and related to half the county it can sometimes,but not always, hurt you.
The area lost what luster it had to me when My child was born, I simply feel there are much better places to raise a child. In essence as I grew older and matured a bit, my priorities changed.
I applied for a Job in Greenville a few years ago and didn't have any luck. They company I am interested in working for is hiring again, I have more years and more experience under my belt so I might apply and try again. I like the climate of Greenville better, It seems to be a big enough city to offer some nice things, but small enough its not another Chicago.
What were the biggest draws to Greenville for you? Overall It seems like a place i would like. I will admit since I started watching Live PD which Greenville officers are a part of, I started questioning some things as parts of the area seem a bit rough, however I realize that the problem areas are likely a small segment of that particular area.
I love LIVE PD. Greenville has some lower income areas, not unlike anywhere else. If you're ever in the area take a walk around downtown. It's flat out beautiful. The property is cheap, taxes are cheap, people are so kind. The area is growing quickly and Greenville County Schools are excellent. From Greenville you can be hiking, rafting, camping in the Smokie Mountains in less than 45 minutes. I live in a community with a nice private pool, and I have .4 of a wood acre.
