Okay, I am using Trop-artic blend on my non-HM 4.0L Jeep. Convince me to switch to Pennzoil dino YB when I run out of Trop-artic.

Both are very good oils... Use whatever is cheaper!

Sadly, I can not. Pennzoil made candle wax out of my engine.

It has a good amount of ZDDP, and that's not everything... It's additive package is very good.

Candle wax is hog-wash IMO.

I was kidding

Sarcasm.

Every SM/GF-4 oil will have roughly the same amount of ZDDP. Pennzoil used to have a ton of moly, but now they've increased the boron content. Metallic additive levels in a UOA are by no means a good indicator of how well an oil protects. It's the total package, and Pennzoil has it with group II+ base oil.

I'd say Pennzoil is probably one of the or the best pure conventional oils out there based on UOA results here and anecdotal evidence.

Don't let anyone convince you of anything. Look at the UOA's, study and form your own opinion. That way it's your decision and you will sleep better at night.

Drew, I knew you were kidding. That's why I made the comment I did.

I know. I just didn't want anyone else to come here and think it wasn't a joke.

I've been using it for 25 years.

Never disappointed me yet.

I drained that crummy M1 out of my C6 Corvette and put some good PP in.

they are both good oils i used Pennzoil for years until the price went up so much now i use conoco phillips which is who makes trop artic which is a synthetic blend Pennzoil is not i really like the conoco brands of engine oil which by the way makes Motorcraft,Phillips 66 Kendall 76 and other quality oils...I change my oil now at 5000 miles or 4 months i used to change it 3000 or three months but the uoa's have been so good with the Conoco i now know its ok for an extended drain

What happened to my other thread??? I posted another the same time as this one stating that I got some Pennzoil HM 10w40 on sale at wally world for 13 bucks today so I bought 2 of them.

I wanted (in that thread) to be convinced Pennzoil HM dino was as good as Castrol GTX HM...

thanks

Look at UOA's and make your own decision. For me seeing the UOA of that Crown Vic PI that used Valvoline after idling for 35 hours sold me on it.

I have been using YB since it came in cardboard cans. The only problem I ever had was terrible sludge when I back slid and used QS for a while. That could have been due to short trips and 6 month OCI's.

After I found BITOG, I looked at the UOA's and felt good about it. Now I have a sneaky suspecion Shell is hosing me for my loyalty, and Shell is cheaper and just as good.
