Do you guys know which conventional oils contain the most moly. From some of the threads here it seems that moly is a good additive, especially in a higher mileage engine. I know Pennzoil and Havoline both do. Which one has more?
Others like Valvoline and Castrol do not, correct?

If I recall, my used oil analysis showed about 313ppm moly, and I think Valvoline Maxlife had a slighly smaller amount. Pennzoil and Castrol were in the 50-80ppm range, last time I looked. These were used oil analysis.

I have been reading mixed things about moly in motor oil. Is there a concensus about it? Several items I have read say that it's bad in PCMO because it kills copper bearings and such. I am uninformed but trying to learn. I use a high moly oil for my tractor (TRC Moly XL Pro Spec 10w30) and have recently come to question the wisdom of this.

The TRC oil that you are using is very good oil. It depends on the type of moly used. Most oil companies use what's called a soluble moly, instead of a powered moly. That's the kind of moly generally found in grease and you do not want that in your engine.

I'm actually contemplating a High Mileage oil.. I use Pennzoil conventional and thought about their High Mileage, but Maxlife (while all this High Mileage stuff is more marketing) seems to be the best choice among all High Mileage oils. However...am I going to notice a decrease in fuel economy with any of the High Mileage oils?

Red Line is extremely high but, indeed, very far from conventional. Out of curiosity, for what purpose are you seeking high moly?

Well, the reason being is that it seems to be touted as a very good friction reducer.
