Anyone bought a 5 gal jug of Synpower lately (Walmart) notice if it had a foil seal? I thought the last time I got it (couple years ago) it did, the one I just got didn't (just had that plastic ring deal). Have seen some horror stories on here about buying used oil at Walmart.

I can't vouch for the foil on valvoline I personally haven't seen foil on an oil jug or bottle. the plastic ring is fine as long as it was sealed, which u would feel it pop from the seal breaking no worries of buying used oil in That respect. however if it didn't pop when u opened the bottle then yes it's probably used oil from someone who returned it get a "free oil change"

I just checked my part bottle of Valvoline SynPower 5w20. No foil. Just the ring you are talking about.

Yeah, I just noticed that too when I opened a quart of the BC that I bought last month. It had a foil seal and a plastic security ring on the cap.

Confession time: I opened it solely to take a whiff and see if it really smelled like gummie bears like people have mentioned. It actually smells a bit like the G-Oil stuff that's made from cow fat, so maybe the BC and GC still has some GrpV in it?

Side note: The rendering plant next door to my office makes the product that eventually becomes the base stock in G-Oil, among many other products that need animal fat. It is the worst smelling thing I have ever experienced, and it permeates through the outside of my building such that my office smells terrible when they are up and running and the wind is going the wrong direction.
