Yep.. Happened to me again....

Ordered 3 jugs of Valvoline from Walmart. Unboxed them, went to put them in the storage area, when I noticed the seal on one was broken. Yep.. someone "returned" their oil... and it got put right back on the shelf for some unsuspecting person to add it to my cart.

So.. This is an Annual Reminder to check those lids when purchasing!!

Long ago I bought some 30 weight for my lawn mower at WM. When it came time to change the oil, I removed the cap which I noticed had a broken seal. The oil inside the bottle was used. Someone would have to be twisted to do something so petty like that. Sometimes I miss the old one quart oil cans.

Literally. It would seem like It’s more trouble to buy the oil, pour the new oil in, pour the recovered oil back into the container, then go and lie about it at the service desk after driving back.

It would be for most of us. It would seem that these lowlifes probably have no job and nothing better to do.

Will Walmart take it back? Once I tried to return a new oil filter that had a large dent in it. The entire customer service area literally mocked me for trying to return a used filter because according to them, it smelled like gas. Fools.

Total crap shoot. One returns employee may inspect every inch of an item, one may send it without a glance.

I worked at Walmart years ago. Someone returned a portable DVD player with built in screen after carving obscenities into every inch of it. Apparently the dope working returns that day didn't bother to open the box.

Was it new or used oil?

Today we already had а similar experience with another BITOG-er - a wrong order shipped by Walmart.
Wrong Walmart Order Shipped
It was used oil. So not sure if someone was told to bring back the oil for recycle and instead of taking it home the auto section, they took it to the front return counter, or someone was just trying to get one over on Walmart and get a refund (a “free” oil change), and unsuspecting (or no-care) employee just put it back on the shelf with the rest of their returns.

Actually, they did. I bought the oil online in February. When I started the online return, I put the reason down, and I have until May 8th to return it. Needless to say I was surprised.

I need to start checking my oil when it arrives. Some jugs/bottles have a tamper seal molded in to the cap, the ring that splits. Once that breaks, I would also be surprised if a return was granted.

I was at our local Walmart years ago looking at 5 qt jugs of oil. I found one with oil fingerprints on the jug and when I opened the lid, it was full of used oil. I told the manager and now they open the lid at the return desk. He gave me a $25 gift card for that tip.
