Consuming oil during hard runs

I have a strange oil problem. My car does not use a drop of oil normally, but if I start driving really aggressively (say 5+ WOT runs to redline in a few days) I can lose about a quart in less than a week's time. The weird thing is, although I might be imagining it, this problem seem to only occur when its been at least 3500 miles since my last oil change.

Car: 02 Subaru WRX (37K miles)
Oil: M1 5w30 changed every 5K miles
Oil History: Changed to Valvoline 5w30 full synthetic at 5k miles. No noticeable consumption. Read that Valvoline is a lowly group III oil. Switched to Redline 5w30 at 20k and lost 2 quarts over 5k. Switched to M1 5w30. I've also tried M1 10w30, which didn't seem to curb the consumption.

It's not that strange to use oil during truly hard driving, especially with turbos. It does sound like your oils are doing some cleaning.

My very old beater Volvo turbo uses more oil during 90 mph+ hill climbs than around town.

One thing for sure - it uses a LOT less oil after a thorough AutoRx treatment.....I don't make any money from this endorsement!
