I have read(on & off) CR Mag for over 35 years and I remember Nu-Finish coming in 1st place several times over the years with Meguiar's Cleaner Wax eclipsing N-F the next time around(several years later). And then, it seemed that N-F had come in 1st place again later on. The last time I read the CR test on waxes/polishes, Black Magic Wet Shine had been their #1 choice. Now it seems as though Meguiar's is in the top spot again!
What I do remember about CR Mag testing on waxes/polishes, is that when they did test some highend or specialty/boutique polishes such as, for example, ZYMOL, it too rated very high but it was very expensive(double the price) compared the the Nu-Finish, Meguiar's, Black Magic. And, the higher end products did no better in any area. Maybe this has changed.
I one time bought some Liquid Glass base on all of the HoopLa. Tried in on a large section of one of my daily drivers along with a bunch of other products...Nu-Finish, Finish 2001, Blue Corral, Rain Dance, Yellow Wax, Detailers Choice, & one of those waxes in colors. Some others too; I don't remember all of them now.
Nu-Finish, Liquid Glass, Yellow Wax and Rain Dance all did the ~ same as-far-as I could tell with the others showing less gloss improvement.
Finish 2001 and Wax in Colors seemed to be too abrassive on a nice finish actualling dulling the paint causing surface swirl marks.
