Considering selling the 3.0

Agree with many above that the transmission issues are a thing of the past. They affected the 6th generation, not yours, a seventh gen. I would be surprised if your Accord did NOT make it to 200k with good preventitive maintenance. At 6k a year that is well beyond ten years. IMO anxiety over eclipsing 100k on a properly maintained vehicle is energy needlessly wasted. If my Gf can put 240k plus on her '97 Cherokee using Iffy lube I fully expect the Honda and Mazda to do the same given my BITOG inspired tendancy toward maintenance overkill.

My advice: keep it! And leave the worry in the rear view mirror where it belongs.

I 100% agree with this. mine is Silver exterior on black interior over black leather (loaded) with dark tinted windows and weather tech "vent shades" and weather tech floor liners.. I couldnt agree more that this car with the given mods looks and in general feels "classy/sporty" like im in a much more expensive car, great factory stereo, sharp clean interior and exterior, fun/sporty to drive, very peppy 3.0 all the options.. sheesh im talking myself into keeping this thing..

I also 100% agree the Accord is much faster and more sporty than our Milan.. although both cars are basically the same minus exterior paint colour, (6 banger's) (both cars have the same apperance mods) the Milan has the appearance of a expensive car but one you spend some time with it the interior feels cheaper than the accord, and the drive line is downright boring by comparison.. But you cant argue about a good deal on a extremely low miliage car for the wife to drive.. So we own a Milan..

I think the real question is could you swallow putting $4k into the car to get another 100K miles? You know you'll have to do at least the timing belt and the water pump.

From the quote above it looks like you don't really want to put a whole lot of money into maintaining this car. Since you only put 6K miles on in a year, I would just run it another year and start saving money to get something else.


Yes and No, I love doing maintence on my auto's. Oil, coolant, etc.. but i hate paying shops to do expensive jobs on higher miliage cars.. I wont deny that.. and a transmission job is outside my skillset to replace. Im not in the crowd of people that "keep em forever" so when i have to drop bigger coin on expensive repairs or maintence it grinds my gears.. Thus one of the main reasons i like to sell em off before they get to the point that someone else is afraid to buy them do to age or miliage (and 100,000 is one of them markers.. The point of my thread.. Alas i Know Hondas are pretty awesome so im undecided.
