Considering "New" Impala. Advice?

Jeff Foxworthy said it best when he said "looking to buy a used rental car is like going to a house of ill-repute looking for a wife. I wouldn't want to stick my key in anything that's been ridden that hard by that many people!"

Humour aside, I've had good luck with used rental/feet/program vehicles. I sell cars for a living, and virtually nothing that comes back could be pinned to someone abusing the car. It's usually just typical failures associated with used cars in general.

Tom, doesn't GM have that certified used program? Try and find a certified used GM 3.8L V6 Impala LS. I know in Houston, there are lots of cars for sale all the time but then again, we have a lot of people in Houston.

Sounds like a rental to me. As a matter of fact I have had a few as rentals...NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL. It does have alot more snot than the 3.0 Vulcan Taurus, but personally I didnt care for it much.

Everytime I get a rental for work I look at the oil (habit I guess)...and it is always DARK BROWN if not black. I know they are suppost to take care of them but I dont know how much they do. Good luck to ya.

Eric

I just ran a Carfax report on it. It is a previous rental.
Email or PM me and I'll give you the whole report if you're interested.

Gotta love having an excellent memory...I still remember the login and password for the Carfax account at the dealership I used to work for a couple years ago!

Yeah, that vehicle's out of contention now.
It would cost me another $5K to get the 3.8 Liter, and I decided the 3.4 Liter shouldn't be touched with a borrowed 10 foot poll.

hi

it shouldnt be too hard to find a '03 Impala with the L36, and with only a modest price premium.

I've owned L36s for the last 10 yrs, and usualy trade when i hit 250k.

My current ride just hit 157k and is barely broken in.
