Buster, I really think women have more of a thing for trucks than men!
You should have decent reliability from the Dodge. My 2001 is 3&1/2 years old now and only problems were steering column and intermediate shaft were replaced (steering wasn't smooth and felt like a bearing in the column was clicking). Crappy Mopar battery went bad at 2 1/2 years. All problems were fixed under warranty. The dealer was very good and gave me a free loaner car while my truck was in the shop. Gas mileage (3.9 V-6 with 5 speed manual) is 19 mpg average city and highway. We rented a Hemi 4WD Durango and according to the trip computer the mileage averaged 17. Have fun!

Buster, an update on the odometer and the MPGs please.
Truck came with 90 miles on it bc they had to drive it to the dealer. I now hava 850 miles on it. Should start to cut down on miles now that I've shown everyone the truck.
Gas milage is 18 mpg on the highway and 12-14 mpg in the city. I'm putting a Extang Tanno cover on it and that should help a bit. www.extang.com. I applied Zaino's and it looks phenomenal. The 20" wheels really make this truck stand out. IMO, thats what does it with the Rams.
I'm having all synthetics put in on Tuesday. Amsoil Series 2000 75-90 in the differentials, ATF in the transmission and trasfer case and S2k 0w30 in the engine. I will be chaning my oil on my own from now on but they do a package type deal at this place so while doing all the other fluids, I'm having them put it in.
Considering I was driving 50,000 miles per year in the Corolla, I was actually spending more per month on gas then. I now car pool and drive 2-3 days a week. 80 mile round trip. Hopefully my co-worker doesn't leave the company.
This truck sits hi up naturally. I've always liked that about trucks. I also chose the 4 wheel drive shift on the fly but chose the floor lever rather then the electronic button. Felt cheap to me. I like the shifter better. Goes into 4 wheel drive really easy.

Buster, you can try driving with the tailgate down until you get the bed cover.
The black Hemi seems to be popular as I see quite a few around. From what I see on the west coast highways and rural areas it's mainly Ford country but I've seen a lot more Dodge trucks since the 2003 came out, a lot being diesels. Reliability for the Dodge truck seems to be good as a brother in Alaska says that Dodges, especially the diesels, seem to be the state truck.

We visited some friends in the Bay area this last summer and the family got to ride around in their BMWs. On the trip back I asked if they'd rather be in the BMW and they said no. I guess the space makes the difference, as even with leather seats, a DVD player and butt warmers 'flying coach' is still coach :^)

I'm happy with it so far. I realize I'm taking a risk more so with Dodge then other makes, but as I've said before, I wanted a mean looking truck with Power and the Dodge has it.
Just found out last night that my friend's neighbor has a lemon law out for her new Honda Odessey. It's not just the Domestics with quality problems.
So far I have 1,950 miles on it. This truck is extremely smooth. The trans is aparently pulled from one of the Mercedes trucks. I'm going to try and take pictures this weekend and post them. My sister has a digital camera.
I found out that Dodge changed the viscosity of the rear gear fluid for the 9.25 rear to a 75w-140. I have the 75w-90 in their. I don't tow anything and only every now and then do I put stuff in the bed.

I am enjoying my 20 MPG on my Tacoma especially with these rediculous gas prices, 1.93 for regular. Now my 4-Runner is eating me up, but we only average 150 miles in 2 weeks time so its not bad.
Be prepared for $3.00 per gallon regular within 2 years.

I am now getting 21 mpg avg highway mileage. Not bad for a 345hp engine! It's improved significantly the last 500 miles or so. This is at 65mph though.
I was getting 15mpg on the highway. I did have all synthetics put in but mostly likely the improvements are from break-in, as it states in the manual.
Amkeer, do you know anything about the 4.0L Toyota V6? Should be solid being a Toyota. Curious to see what type of gas mileage it gets in the Tacoma.
