I'm getting 21 MPG in my daily commuting too, this LS1 is much more efficient than my LT1.

I was getting 15mpg on the highway. I did have all synthetics put in but mostly likely the improvements are from break-in, as it states in the manual.

Amkeer, do you know anything about the 4.0L Toyota V6? Should be solid being a Toyota. Curious to see what type of gas mileage it gets in the Tacoma.

Probably 18-20 MPG. It will have VVT so I would imagine that will help the MPG. Nothing like what Patmans getting with that Vette. Just goes to show you what torque and aerodynamics will do for MPG. Trucks are like pushing square blocks through wind tunnels, not very efficient.

The Vette gets amazing gas mileage for a sports car. It's aerodynamic and very light. My truck is 5,100 lbs. I'm only supposed to get 18mpg on the highway but avg 21 mpg last night on a 20 mile round trip.

Amkeer, how about durability of the new 4.0L? Is it too soon to now how durable this engine will be? I know someone interested in the new 4Runner which uses this engine as does the new Tacoma. Thanks.

Very impressed with the MPG #'s Buster. My wife has a 99 Lincoln Navigator. She loves it. Should be comparable, but 15 mpg. I don't think there should be a big difference in aerodynamics.

I think there is more to aerodynamics than meets the eye, though. I bet there is an improvement there also, subtle though it may be.

This is exceptional mpg for a truck of this type.

I know, I was shocked myself. Remember I am talking about highway miles though and driving 65-70mph. The first 500-1000 miles I couldn't get it to go above 15mpg. It does state in the manaul, and this goes for all cars probably, that gas mileage will improve the first 6,000 miles. Maybe Amsoil S2k helping,

I will say this, most guy's I've spoken too that have Dodge Rams with the Hemi are NOT even getting the 17mpg they should be.

Ford's screwup was that the basic design was 4.6 liters instead of something larger...

narrow cylinder bore spacing was the mistake, along with very thin bearing saddles. I don't think the term "world class" has ever been used to describe the modular (nor should it have). it was a compromise from the beginning (a poor one at that). they can't make power N/A and ford has finally admitted as much by starting to design a totally new engine called "hurricane", look for it to be pushrod.

The new Tacoma looks awesome. I told my wife in 2 years if I'm sick of the Ram and or it's giving me problems (hope not), I'll probably trade it in for a Tacoma. The Tacoma I'd keep for life or as long as it would last.

Thanks, I just hope it holds up. If not, you know where I'll be heading....to the Toyota dealer.

My cousin's got an 01 Z06 (385hp) and he's seen up to 30.x mpg (average for a drive), with the cruise set on 65mph. Tell me that's not amazing!

I agree, driving a Z06 with the cruise set on 65 mph is amazing.

It is amazing. My truck getting 21 is pretty **** amazing too. Your talking about a 5,000lb truck, with no cap on the back. The Vette is a very light car but still gets amazing gas mileage.
