Consensus between M1, Purolator, and CarQuest Premium Oil Filters?

Do we know if Carquest Premium issues for Hyundai / Kia engines has been resolved - or was that just with the Premium Guard brand oil filters ?

Hyundai actually issued a TSB to only use OEM filters. PG issued their own to cover themselves.

Yes, all the Asian filters with this basic construction have a pretty large glue seam around the center tube on the dome end. Nothing to worry about because that glue is stuck on very well. It's hard to even chip it off purposely.

Honestly, over the years there's been so many warnings from Hyun/Kia and some of the aftermarkets posted on the sub-forum, tough to keep up with them all. I think 'some' of the makers may have chosen to not recommend/list thier 9688 equivalent filters for Hyun/Kia applications. Just not worth the risk of them being blamed. But, don't quote me on that. I don't recall a specific CQ Prem. issue or warning on the current CQ 85344 for Hyun/Kia. It's been 'my opinion' for a long time that any issue is with the Hyun/Kia engine oiling system and aftermarket oil filters generally, just an easy target when problems have occurred.

All that said, as the OP's vehicle a Honda, wouldn't be a factor/consideration for use of the CQ Premium 84356. Lastly, another 15% off (no minimum) code popped up for those interested. It's CAPONEAAP.

Per an email back and forth with Highine Warren, the new Mobil 1 filter is made to the same specs as the previous M+H version. So that means it has the same efficiency (told it's actually the same 99% @ 30u like the old M+H made Mobil filter was) and still rated for up to 20K miles. I'm sure it flows just as well - meaning the dP vs flow performance is basically the same. No oil filter is really very "flow restrictive" in the big scheme of an oiling system. At a flow rate of say 8-10 GPM, a few +/- PSI of dP difference between filters isn't going to matter to a PD oil pump force feeding an oiling system.

You can get them at Walmart, but the part numbers I use are cheaper at Rural King.
