Okay so I have a magnum 5.9L Jeep that has 180k on it. It has had Mobil 1 10w30 or Mobil 1 10w30 HM since 65k (changed every 3-4k).
It is a retired daily driver and doesn't see but a few thousand miles (2-4k) per year. I am finally convinced that using Pennzoil High Mileage conventional is fine and that since I am changing it once per year now, that no need to waste Mobil 1 High Mileage(plus it has a few leaks & I am curious if conventional will help)
But I know that this vhicle has an inferior sump design and a small oil pickup. I WOULD HOPE, that using Mobil 1 every 3-4k would have kept things nice & clean. But should I be concerned about the inferior factory design that is sludge-prone & oil-starvation-prone enough such as NOT to switch to a conventional high mileage 10w30 oil with a nice thick base stock? This Jeep does see some short trips & some in the winter time!
I am sure it is all clean & conventional is fine, but since this motor is poor design, I am actually glad I had been using synthetic most of its life up to this point, but if I can safely use conventional, then I would (at least for experimentation anyway)
