History: I have been die-hard Castrol dino fan in my past; Mobil 1 fan for synthetic. These are not all the vehicles I have owned, but are only ones with a good metric established.
Castrol GTX 10w30 0-149k, 4-7k OCI - '89 Nissan p/u 4cyl SOLD...used some oil
Castrol GTX 10w30 118k-150k 3k OCI, then 150k-181k Castrol GTX HM 10w40, 3k OCI - '92 Camaro 5.0L SOLD... used some oil, needed valve stem seals
Mobil 1 10w30 66k-150k, 3k OCI, then 150k-178k Mobil 1 10w30 HM, 3-4k OCI - '98 Jeep 5.9L CURRENT...uses some oil, minor leaks
Castrol GTX 10w30 65k-69k, 4k OCI, then 69k-73k Trop-Artic 10w30 syn-blend, 4k OCI - '01 Jeep 4.0L CURRENT...uses very little oil, minor leaks
After reading this board (& based on my preferred OCI), I am convinced that the best choices for the money are Pennzoil 10w30 YB for the 4.0L, and Pennzoil High Mileage dino for the 5.9L...
Also, for a synthetic (for any future cars I may want to run it in), that Pennzoil Platinum 10w30 is the best choice/value.
Based on all of your data & UOA that you guys have read & accumulated in your tenure, can I go wrong with switching to Pennzoil products accross the board???
OR...should I stick to Trop-Artic & Castrol for the dino/blend variety of oil since I am deciding not to use Mobil 1 or other synthetics for now?
