Regarding the emissions equipment, the short answer is it is not legal. I refuse to delete my PSD because I do not want to see black smoke rolling out of it nor do I want to smell diesel burning. There are several that run around me everyday that have deleted their trucks and they stink like the old diesels did. That is their prerogative, however, if the federal boys catch on I have read somewhere that it is thousands of dollars in fines.

I am not saying that cat deletes should be specifically legal, but that making your truck get less than 70% of its rated mileage without using it for its proper use should not exactly be legal. Around here, 80% of the guys who mod their trucks like this have also removed emissions equipment. I hate seeing all of that nasty black smoke coming out of smoke stacks. It cannot be good for the environment. It doesn't bother me so much when a small efficient car removes some emissions equipment. At least all of that nasty carbon isn't visible.

I do care when they intentionally bully other drivers by cutting them off, run red lights knowing you (in the smaller vehicle) will stop, and roll "coal" everywhere.

Bro-trucks have become a big problem around here, not because of the fact that they are large vehicles, but the idiots driving them who destroy property. Some of the kids who own them intentionally drive over small islands, curbs, wooden posts, etc because they can. There is a local business that has a small front lawn near an intersection. There are constantly bro-trucks driving through his lawn so they can get around the traffic and turn right.

They are a problem here as well. Many are older diesels....and they "blow coal" just for the fun of it. It's seems to be a bragging point among them even if we report them...there is a shop somewhere that I guess for a few extra dollars will approve whats coming out of their tail pipe. And do we have air issues here in the winter time.....I don't care what anybody drives-it's the attitude that clean air, curbs, and center mediums (that they roll over). It's the attitude...that's the issue.

Again, i have no issues with people driving regular trucks with reasonable tires. My disdain is exclusively on the 6" or greater lift kits, the 20" wheels with 37" or greater tires, "stacks", you know that kind of thing is complete waste in a daily driver.
Not a waste to the owner . Myself I think a lifted truck is really stupid but them I wouldn't lift my vehicle or lower it,or modify it. I just maintain the vehicle and drive it but that is just me . In a socialist utopia the government would know what is best for us and make a law so we do the proper things.

Bro trucks are basically "white trash bling".

Here's how I view the different ethnicities of bling. White people drive lifted trucks advertising their favorite underwear, ice chests, duck heads, deer profiles, etc. Black people drive lifted sedans with rubberband tires with those spike "rims" (which should be illegal),paint them purple, and proudly display that they're driving an Impala. White people seem to be advocates of free advertising. If I'm going to plaster the brand of some company's product on my vehicle that can be seen miles away,I'm going to be reimbursed.

+1, I get dirty looks when I drive my Mustang. There is a lady that will stop on her bike when I start it almost every morning and squeeze her nose and shake her head. She has a Prius so my car is better on the environment than hers ever will be.

BTW looked like you guys had great weather in Vegas. FS1 is doing a great job in their coverage.

I want to see the look on her face after you spray some seafoam or induction cleaner into the intake...

What about the change in bumper height? The manufactures can't meet federal laws selling new trucks with bumpers 36" off the ground.

Why is it we have regular threads on dislike of trucks (lifted, bad gas mileage, rolling coal, etc etc blah blah blah) but you never see someone say anything about persons choice of car when they buy the hot rod, sports cars, etc? Just go in the Vehicle section. Do you see anyone commenting about someone's choice to by a SRT, Mustang, etc etc?

If a bro truck is so bad, compensating for certain things then anyone who buys more than an Econobox is also compensating for something.

Though we did have a pretty interesting thread on someone trying to reserve a Tesla....

This. I like to cruise the classifieds looking at trucks. I rarely see one that is perfectly stock and shows no signs of abuse or a dumb owner.

I dunno. Sometimes I'll walk by a BMW M3, completely rigged with aftermarket rims, spoiler, tinted including front windshield. I'm sure BITOG would have a field day with that.

There is a truck on CL that I am very close to looking at and buying ... I just don't have a place to buy it.

It's a 2WD 3/4 ton truck. Manual transmission. Power NOTHING. Single cab. Vinyl interior.

The owner can't get rid of it.

You know your right....I am assuming the darling of BITOG members-the Ford Crown Victoria-pollutes more than a new Ford Taurus or similar model, just based on their age and technology at the time. But yet- they are loved on here!

My opinion has always been: Buy whatever you want- and to h*ll with what anyone else thinks.

There is nothing I despise more than some self-righteous, hand-wringing, bed-wetting dweeb who thinks that they have the moral authority to tell me what I need or don't need.

I've never had the slightest desire to won a raised diesel 4X4 pickup- but if someone else wants to own one, well, it's their money. How they spend it is absolutely none of my business.

Chicks dig them.

This, flat-biller chics are usually pretty hot too.

It is all in the quest of "it is never enough". Most V-8 late model diesels make upwards of 400HP/800LB-FT as compared to diesels 15 years ago that made roughly half of that. Things have not changed in the hauling/towing world THAT much where nearly double the HP/TQ is still not enough, yet there are those who have to modify to eek out that last little bit of power (or so they think most times) and hose up the environment at the same time. Moreover, most (if not all) of these modified trucks usually haul the owner and little else since they are usually raised or modified to the point of not being able to be used as a truck. I have nothing against owning or modifying whatever vehicle one likes, but I can remember the "smog" days and we have improved light years over that and should not start revert backwards.
