Im new to pickup trucks

The Ram Classic is plenty quiet and nice inside, and the V6 with a higher diff ratio scoots along quite well, even in a crewcab 4wd. I wasn't a big fan of the 5.7 in my Dad's 2018 SLT RAM as it needs 89+ octane, or it pulls lots of timing at low rpms and makes it feel a bit like a 90's Civic hitting vtec... A bit grumbly with the cyl deactivation at 55-60 mph. The rest of the truck was nothing but good, super simple inside, comfortable. The 5.5' bed is not big, especially with a cover on it.

If just want a pickup for the utility, and you aren't towing something heavy enough to need a pickup towing capacity, I would recommend just a utility trailer to do anything a 2wd pickup bed will do, and most of it better IMO. We built a house and run our hobby farm quite well without a pickup. Then a 30mpg vehicle can haul 1500lbs of whatever once in a while, and a trailer is much easier to load, unload, and you can just drop it, and unload it later, or hook it up the atv and pull it around the back of the house. Its a work bench, saw horses, painting racks, whatever you want to do, and no worries about scratching/denting it.

Im not sure about that one. It has 116miles.

It's hard to find an f150 with a good price. all used ones are over 150k miles and want more than $15k for them. But ill keep searching.

Sorry what do you mean? It has 36k miles. I think buying high mileage is a gamble. Dont know if the previous owner took good care of it. Like that ram that has 116k miles.
If you are buying used near the 80k-120k mile mark, you should buy the cheapest one possible. At that point your getting into front end rebuild, shocks, brakes, maybe tires. Its not worth overpaying and spending the same on maintenance.

If it made it 116k, it didnt get there without regular oil changes. Its also not to late to change all the driveline fluids and still go another 100k.

To me $33k is alot for 3 years old, v6, and 4x2.

Ok a 2020 Nissan titan s v8 4x4 48k miles
For $28k
Is that one worth 28k since its v8 and 4x4?

Yes at 28k that is more in my ballpark. However its a Titan which is alot less common vs the big 3 and carries a discount on its own.(my opinion) Here is a ram on autotrader, low miles sub $25k. Use advanced search to narrow in. There are few Rams under 6 years <50k miles around $25k.

You said AZ so i picked phoenix.

I thought you were recommending v8 4x4 due to previous comments or I misunderstood? BTW thats another nice ram and at a lower price! Thanks for continuing to help!

As the owner of a Ram 3500 and past owner or a Ram1500 my first thought is if OP is new to trucks and worried about MPG I would ask how do you know OP how big of a truck you need? Are you towing a RV or a boat or do you need to simply be able to grab a truckload of mulch next Spring or move a sofa once and a blue moon? Or do you need to be able to grab a full sheet of plywood for the house you are framing next week?
Even with me owning a big truck I like the idea of the Honda truck and the Ford Maverick or Ranger or yes the F-150 but I would buy the V8 in the 150 but a 4 cyl perhaps in a small truck, I have never got very caught up in MPG with trucks and vans and all are not great I buy what I want and need.
I kinda like the idea of the Honda to be honest and would like to own one one day.

Not planning to tow anything right now but my wife an I are planning in the future to get an rv plus a truck or a full RV to travel around the country. Right now im just acting like a young kid who wants a truck because they look cool 😎 😆. Some new toy to enjoy. I enjoy driving and will like to try a truck. The Hemi sound is convincing after watching couple of videos lol. Work is like 20m away from home, 4 days a week. And yes once in a full moon move a sofa.
I know MPG is important to me but Let's try a truck. I also forgot that I plan to go hunting. So yeah I guess I have plans coming down the road but as right now im just acting like those young kids that dont need it right now.

From personal experience that has purchased a few trucks for the same reason you want one OP, I have purchased (2) trucks new that did not fit me, the first was a then new 1993 Small Toyota, Rode like a screaming tank on I-85, Great truck but was not for my needs, I sold it with 4K miles. The I purchased a new 2012 Ram 1500 with the HEMI, Even ordered it with upgraded cat back MOPAR dual exhaust and a cold air intake, ( sounded and looked fantastic ) to be in budget, I didn't buy the crew cab so only had 2 seats ( was $7K less for only 2 seats) sold it with 4K miles.. also Google the HEMI Tick OP...

My only advice is do what you are doing OP ( research ) almost wish you could rent one for a week or have a buddy who owns one as I still didn't get it right with my 3500, I had intended to start buying and hauling cars and buy a RV, I Never did either as life changed so now I have a $100K BIG Diesel truck thats hard to park at the grocery store ( but it is a SUPER nice truck and a good problem to have )..

Just researched more about the HEMI tick. It can be many things and it will be stressful not knowing if its something serious or not. I guess for Ram it's V6. And for V8 Ill go with the titan and the Ford that was recommended.

Actually I did try some even a big uhual lol
You can see the road better. Good experience, hard to explained.
Thats a nice truck you have! It's the maintance different compare to a gas truck?

The new Tacoma's are now turbo 4 cyl. No more V-6. I think they also have the turbo4's with optional hybrid that makes them hot rods.
There's uses v6 but they are asking allot.
For midsize. I found a 2017 colorado Z71 96k miles for $22k. Any thoughts?

Nissan is getting out of the business in the next year or so as fair as I know. I wouldn’t touch ten regardless.

Do you need 4WD and what cab configuration do you need? Just you +1 or current/future kids & passengers? I really think to get an accurate gauge on where to go purchase wise when scoping your new or used search is to define what you want or need out of a truck.

If you just want a truck with decent MPG and don't care if it's a regular cab, 2WD, etc... you can find a lot of attractive offers low $30k for a new truck. If you're comfortable spending $26k-ish on 30-60k used, and don't care if you have a stripper truck, then a bran-new $30-32k truck sounds a lot better to me.

I saw that you will be purchasing a travel trailer. That should influence the truck you buy. If you buy a rig with a very low tow rating, you will be severely limited in the camper you can tow. And don't go by the advertised tow ratings. That's an old trick they still use. They advertise a max tow rating of some incredible number, but really its a specific model and package needed. A midsize truck or half ton with a V-6 will be limited in towing capacity to approximately 5-6k pounds. Determine the tow rating by the actual door tag or VIN.

With that said, I was ready to pull the trigger on a Ram 1500 Bighorn in 2022 with the v6 E-torque. The only thing that turned me away was that the salesguy told me I'd hate towing with it because the rating was so low. At the time I only planned on towing around 7,000 lbs on occasion.
