This. Jardiance is the one that gets me. It boggles me as to why the pharma companies think that a commercial with singing and dancing is going to sell their drug. Your doc will tell you and prescribe IF NEEDED.

Not necessarily. A lot of blockbuster drugs sell well because patients come in asking about them. It's not that they're necessaarily inappropriate. However, there's a lot of competition out there. Some meds are moderately helpful, yet very expensive.

Vioxx was extremely popular. At least until it was taken off the market because of serious side effects. They had big ads on network TV and flooded cable TV with ads. My understanding is that it wasn't necessarily any more effective at pain relief than aspirin or ibuprofen, but it supposedly had fewer side effects (like bleeding ulcers).

I hate the ColoGuard commercial. This product is supposed to be an alternative to having a colonoscopy.

When you listen to the "fine print" disclaimers, they say "false positives and false negatives can occur".

If the test can produce both false positives and false negatives, you can have no confidence in an accurate test result. So what good is the test for something as serious as colon cancer?

Me, too. All drug commercials, actually. I'd have changed my vote if one candidate was promising to ban drug commercials. It's getting ridiculous.

And the test is only semi-useful if you're "average risk." I am not.

Personally, I'll take the colonoscopy. Best 45 minutes or so of sleep I get every 5 years.

There are a couple that really grind my gears (I know.... please stow it! grumpy/old boomer) plus they agitate the wife so much that she now flips the channel as soon as they start. Most are plain dumb and attempt to make one assume that certain things and actions they depict are reality when they are in fact really not.
One that does not really annoy me , it is just so freakin dumb. Those Jardiance ones that someone already mentioned that some tv big wheels think/thought were a good idea. I got the same attitude when I saw them. Its like Really!? I just can't for the life of me imagine , A brain storm or decision making session in a room full of suits who not only thought that was a good idea , they approved more than one similar version. An ad certainly can not be effective or get the buyer their money worth when they make viewers change the station!

Ha ha ha ha. The guy sure does come across as a bit too loud , then a tad too happy and peppy! I need some of what ever supplements he is on for sure.

Plus it should be illegal.
