Cold water wet shave?

When I was in the service, I can remember the field manuals indicating cold water shaving was better than hot. I just assumed that was something they told us so we wouldn't complain about shaving out of a canteen cup with cold water.

My skin does way better when the water is as hot as I can handle it.

I'm glad you mentioned that last part since I normally skip the cold rinse or any rinse at all since I go right to the shower after shaving. I'll try that as well now.

I actually do the shave after the shower, since that softens the hairs nicely. Drew99GT mentioned how a cold rinse closes up pores nicely, too. It also does a great job at stopping bleeding from any little cuts. You use warm or hot water, you'll take forever to quit bleeding. Run some cold water over it for a short time, and it'll be over before you know it.

I remembered the cold water rinse this morning, having forgotten it the last couple times. I'm definitely glad I did it, since I skipped shaving a few days in a row. No burn, no redness today, thank goodness.

Used cold water this morning. No real difference for me. I liked not having to wait for the hot water to make it through the lines. Face has never been a problem, except for the visage.

Vibrating 5 blade razor, barbasol original, in the shower with extra warm water and zero irritation. I have super sensitive skin, I am a redhead. I have found that shaving in the shower and putting some of my wife's lotion on my face gets me three days on a shave instead of two. The lotion really gives me a smooth face for 24+ hours instead of just 8-12.

I can't shave every day, my face would look like a pepperoni pizza. Cold water is instant irritation for my skin while shaving.

I tried it.....and got a compliment for having a smooth face.

It's a little eye opening to splash cold water on the face but I can shave without shaving cream with cheap, two blade razors.

Need to shave now.....

Fortunately, I don't have to deal with people immediately after doing so. When I remember to do it, it does wake me up, but it doesn't improve my mood.

worst shaves and shaving experiences I can remember have been from cold water...no freakin way. I hope in a nice hot shower, clean everything, and save the shaving for last. By that time my skin is well hydrated, whiskers are soft, and everything goes slick as snot. This is the only way I can shave every day.
