Coil pack going bad?

Early Saturns had the same kind of ignition coil setup, but usually they would set a misfire code on 2 cylinders at the same time if there was a coil failure.

Same symptoms presented on my car which is the same chassis with the 3.4

It was the fuel pump. Took a long while for it to fail, but it was progressively harder to get going until it finally wouldn't fire at all. Change the fuel filter too. Mine was original and totally plugged which is what probably killed the pump.

It was in fact the fuel filter. As soon as I changed it the problem went away completely

That means the fuel pump was being "Dead-Headed", Death sentence for a fuel pump.
