I have the Capresso Infinity Model 565. It is $99 on Amazon or Costco. Make sure it is the 565 not the 560. There are basically 3 price points, $50, $100 and several very popular modesl at $350 or so. Unless you do expresso there is no need to spend over a $100. Try to look for a conical burr grinder as the slower motor speed lessens the loss of flavor during grinding. Less heat is generated.

Coffee to me is personal meaning you buy beans grind it and by the time you drink it you need to clean the mess up. If that's the case I buy Kona Peaberry beans because fresher tasting versus grind.

But also a cup of quality McDonalds Kona blend they try to keep quality in check taste ok because no cleanup...my mind is clear to enjoy the cup because don't need to worry of brewing, grinding and cleanup after drinking a cup of coffee.

Sounds like you need a Keurig...no muss, no fuss! Of course, then you might not be as popular with your "green" friends.

I used to buy Gevalia by the case, but started looking elsewhere to save money. It really is good, but I had to trim expenses. Trouble is, I hate a bad cup of coffee even more than a mealy peach.

8 O'Clock Colombian and French roast were decent for awhile, but they started tasting bad to me. I tried Sam's Choice Colombian fair trade and was really surprised--it's smooth no matter how strong I make it, and close in price to 8 O'Clock ($5 for 12oz). Kroger's low-end Colombian in the goldish bag is not as good, but passable. The Kroger brand Kenya AA is pretty good and sometimes on sale for around $5. All these were whole bean, and I prefer a medium roast over the Starbuck's char.

These machines generate waste materials. Not the "green" direction to go. Costly. Cant argue the convenience though.

Keurig makes a reusable filter whereby the only "waste materials" are the coffee grounds.

Oh, you mean those who try not to be selfish or careless about the environment. Coffee Grounds go in the compost pile; All politicians can go in that pile too

I often wonder if ............?

we are almost exclusively Community Coffee now. we buy a bunch of different roasts when they have a deal on shipping, since it isn't sold up here. it's a standard grocery store coffee in LA and MS though.
always beans also. I too grind them w/ a cuisinart burr grinder. the B&D blade grinder I used to use made too much dust and it was hard to tell when you ground them enough.
don't like McD coffee. around here, Wawa is very popular, I like their Dark Roast and the Brazil and Columbia varieties.

I did some shopping tonight.

Dunkin' Donuts is $8 for 12 ounces (almost $11 a pound) YIKES!
I'll try it some day when I catch it on sale.

Sam's Choice Columbian is $5 for 12 ounces. However, the stock that they had on hand was stamped "Use by 3/10/2010". That's in two weeks. I'm not going to buy old coffee. Maybe next time, once they get some fresh stock.

Good old Eight O'Clock 100% Colombian was $4 for 12 ounces, and the bag was dated 11/2010. Yay! Fresh stock!

The Caribou coffees are carried by a local store that I don't normally patronize, and am not wild about making a special trip to a store for just one item.

Yep... another bag of Eight O'Clock for now.

But I look forward to trying the Sam's Choice Columbian once they get some fresh stock... and the Caribou the next time I happen to be driving by one of the stores which carry it.

I just bought the sams choice Colombian and it does not taste anything like 8 o'clock Colombian. I want to say i dont like it, but it is so different, im gonna give it at least the entire cup. I feel like dumping it out right now. It dont have an old or unfresh taste, it is just very different. I dare say if you like the 8 oclock, you probably wont like this. I would like to hear some other reviews on this coffee. I bought it because i bought the sam choice organic decaff and really liked it.

Seattle's Best "Vanilla Bean" is really good for a lighter coffee. I drink it black (light caramel color actually), doesn't need anything added to it.

Keurig user here. After trying many different k cups, I'd have to say my favorite is coffee people donut shop coffee.

Im not sure that drinking coffee black makes you a coffee snob. I have been drinking coffee black since i was 18 and went to the military. I can attest to the fact that drinking it black can make you more picky because many of the coffee flavors you cant taste with cream and sugar.

if you can find it- JFG coffee.it is a regional (southern)brand that is smooth without the usual mass market bitterness.the company is located in knoxville tenn. so it may be available in some areas of the midwest.their instant is pretty good also, for what it is.

I had JFG coffee when I was in Kentucky and Tennessee...It was good.

The big coffee here (and in all of Canada) is Tim Hortons.

I drink a good amount of it, because there is a restaurant on every corner, but I find it a bit watery and bland.

Taterandnoodles has it right! Caribou Coffee is awesome. I also grind my coffee fresh every morning. I also use a burr grinder instead of a blade grinder, and I can tell a big difference in the coffee flavor. The burr grinder make the coffee smooth and not bitter as the previos blade grinder that I had did.
