Coffee - what are you using and why?

Attention Costco shoppers - the Kirkland brand "Guatemala" whole bean ($13.50 for 3 lbs) is quite good. Bought some yesterday and am enjoying it this morning. It's a medium/dark roast like the Papua New Guinea. Recommended.

Currently drinking Archer Farms Kenya AA, very different (in a good way) from any other coffee I've had before. This is my first Kenya AA I've had and is very distinct compare to the Indonesian or Central American coffee I've had.

No need to... instead, scamper away with a bag of the Costa Rican blend the next time you're at Aldi's. I luv it black with some stevia - marvelous!

Indeed I do, as well as a Toddy cold brew system. I use the Aeropress for my Costa Rican and Donut blends (Aldi's), Black Silk and decaf's.

The Toddy was just used for a batch of McDaniel's "Gourmet Blend" from Save-a-Lot. Just generic house coffee that's ultra quick (once brewed and refrigerated) and respectable through the Toddy.

Will do

All the local stores finally raised my favorite Dunkin Donuts out of my price range, am now drinking Hills Bros Coffee original blend. Works just fine and the price is right.

For years, I drank Yuban or Maxwell House 100% Columbian, & just about nothing else. Yuban is from the same company that owns Maxwell House, & every time the local supermarket put MH on sale, it included Yuban at the same sale price. Great deal!

BUT- then they stopped including Yuban- not long after they stopped including the 100% Columbian, which tasted very close to Yuban. So I began experimenting, mostly with the other MH varieties. Maybe I should add that many years ago I often drank Folgers regular, & could never appreciate MH reg.

I found that my tastes hadn't changed much- I *Still* didn't like MH reg!

Then for a few months they had MH South Pacific Blend- *Very* good stuff, & went at sale price- but it's no longer sold here. I've found that I like the MH French Roast pretty well, & their Dark Roast a little better. Seems I've come to strongly prefer medium-dark to dark roast coffee.

Coffees I've tried the past few months- Hills Bros red can, no thanks. Bought 2 cans on sale cheap, still have one unopened. Dunkin Donuts reg roast- pricey & disappointing, maybe I shoulda tried their dark roast. Prices quoted above for DD now are outrageous! 8 O'Clock Columbian- good indeed, but IMO no better than Yuban.

I plan to finish up my current stock of MH Dark & French, just another can or two- plus one last hoarded can of South Pacific Blend

- and then I'm gonna quit buying 2nd best & spend the full price for Yuban.

I'd like to try Folger's Black Silk too.

Right now, I'm stuck on Seattle's Best 100% Columbian.

(it's a shame that Seattle's Best is now owned by Starbucks...)

It breaks my self imposed limit of $5 a bag by a buck ($6)... but I'm liking it that much.

I'm on my second bag now. It has the taste that I was really looking for.

I still have a half bag of the White Castle coffee left. Since it is a mild (and quite unremarkable) coffee, I've been drinking it in the evening.

My local Dunkin' just had a coupon for 4 pounds of coffee for $19.99. I was all over that deal.

I love Dunkin Donuts also...The whole house smells awesome when I brew it in the AM...But even on sale at Publix it's double the price of everything else so I had to give it up...Now it's just Maxwell House Breakfast Blend.

Just finished a cup of Trader Joe's Eithopian Yiracheffe, also trying right now Trader Joe' Coulumbian Supremo. Both quite good in their own way. Unopened in the cupboard are 2 bags 8 O'Clock red bag, TJ's Hawaiian Kauai, TJ's Costa Rica Tarazzu, 3 bags of Community Coffee's Columbian Classico Blend, Gevalia Kenya AA, Gevalia Bold Breakfast Blend, Gevalia Signature Blend, and Seattle's Best Henry's Blend. Stocking up now as wholesale prices have gone up about 30-40% in recent weeks, thanks to the speculators/traders. DD has already gone up a buck a bag here.

Best coffee for me is 7-11's regular blend. The 7-11 in my neighborhood does it perfectly and they will refill my 20 oz cup for 96 cents, sometimes 64 cents, and quite often for 50 cents. It does the job.

From what I saw, 7-11 uses Farmer's brother and so does McDonald's. I remember our workplace used to use FB and they are IMO even better than Starbucks.

Yeah, it's a shame that it'd probably cost $5+ to send a $2-$2.50 can of coffee!

I finished the can of MH Dark, and found yesterday that I overestimated my coffee stockpile- nothing left but the Hills Bros and that last can of MH S Pacific. Opened the MHSP & using that- may use the Hills Bros after that runs out.
