A little duct tape and JB weld and it will be in the air again quickly lol.
Amazing the amount of damage and still able to land safely, even the cirrus didn't look too bad considering.

A private Cirrus SR-22, registration N416DJ with two people on board, was cleared for a visual approach to runway 17R and was advised of the traffic landing on the parallel runway.

Two planes are allowed to land at the same time on two parallel runways? That doesn't seem safe at all.

I'm not a pilot but used to fly with my dad quite a bit. I realize that one of the pilots is at fault but both of them remained calm enough to get to the ground which is admirable.

Happens all the time around the world. Heck - they do that at San Francisco International Airport where the centerline separation between parallel runways is 750 ft. They've been hoping for years to get this separation increased (I think to about 4500 ft) to allow for parallel landings in poor weather conditions.

However, the report is that it was a mid-air collision well before they reached the airport.

Are you serious?

Have you ever flown into an airport with parallel runways? Ever flown an airplane? Parallel runways are like lanes on the highway. More runways = greater capacity.

The runways at APA are about 600 feet apart.

Imagine how dangerous it would be to drive with a car next to you, and closer than 600 feet.

I mean, less than 600 feet away from the nearest car?

I live 8 miles from the airport, and have flown in and out of Centennial for the last year or so.

It is common in visual conditions for ATC to issue landing clearances on both runways at once. I have gotten a couple of traffic alerts going in and out, but always had the other aircraft in sight.

To me, this seems to be the fault of the Cirrus pilot. He overshot the centerlines of both 17 right, AND 17 left.

Yep, using parallel runways simultaneously is perfectly safe standard practice. Same with my home airport KBFI.
👍👍
Once upon a time I got to go in to Boeing Field a few times a year. Beautiful area but verrry busy traffic.

What about rolling down the runway before the last plane a half mile away down has has taken off?

Its been since I was 15 that I had a ticket but from my recollection thats verboten for ATC to do in case of an aborted takeoff by the aircraft in front, as well as spacing due to jet wash.
