Club gas and additives

Gasoline/Jet Fuel/Kero/Diesel/Home heating oil are fungable commodities. The base product (ie: meets EPA/federal/industry standards 87 octane unleaded regular) is transported all over the coutry via private pipelines to terminal/storage locations. The branded refiners can transport their proprietary fuels seperate from the generics to their own dedicated terminal tanks. (or add their own proprietary enhanced additive packages to their brand before delivery.)

Example: http://www.pipeline101.com/Operating/batching_model.html

While Jimmy's Gas 'n Go might be getting commodity grade unleaded from a BP terminal, he's not getting the propriety BP additive package. Tank trucks have multiple compartments for different products, and most higher-volume stations get a full tanker load anyway.

To Costco, they view gasoline like electricty...they don't care where the electrons come as long as they get it cheap.
