Cleaning the inside of the windshield

I found that newspaper with gunk aerosol glass cleaner worked. Nothing else did - there was a ton of issues with streaking using other cleaners.

1 part NuFinish diluted with 10 parts distilled water. Works miracles everytime.

I find micro-fiber is the ticket for me. I can, in fact, use just the micro-fiber cloth to clean my windshield.

Usually, though, a little generic glass cleaner, wipe it off with a microfiber cloth, and then go back over with another one ot make sure its dry. Works great.

They're at most major auto parts stores and even Target. Works quite well.

I bought one like this from the Dollar Store. It was worth about 50 cents.

*****!!!! That's hilarious.... On Trade in it's only worth 25 cents!!!

Me too.

I use a "lightly damp" drying towel after I wash the car. Cleans it pretty good, believe it or not.

It takes work to get the inside of a windshield crystal clear, but I have always been able to get it clean... until we got this 2009 Sonata. The inside of this Hyundai windshield is impossible to clean crystal clear. I've been over it many times and tried various methods, no luck. It's as if the inside surface has some voodoo anti-clean on it. No joke.

I don't apply any solutions to the dash, so no gassing problem from my actions.

I have that as well, and I really like it! Sometimes I just use a microfiber and wipe, and sometimes I dampen the towel.

Dparm's wand idea is worth trying. I have one around, intending to use it on the inside rear of the G, but haven't yet tried it.

In any case, I use two cloths, usually microfiber. Use the Invisible Glass, wipe it with one. Then, buff with the other, dry, clean one. That seems to do the trick for me.

In my youth I worked at a carwash for 2 years. All we ever did was dip a towel in hot water, wring it out, and clean the windows. Dry with a dry towel until it was streak free. All bets are off if you're a smoker.

I don't either, but I still get the film. Like I said, I can't prove this, but I believe the UV rays from sun cause the materials in the dash to give off some sort of gassy film that ends up on the windshield and this is what is so difficult to clean off...

I see quite a few of you saying you use nothing but water...I can tell you in my case that doesn't work. I've tried it many times with dismal results. I think the closest I've been to a clean windshield is when using vinegar and water, but even then it's still not totally clean. Those of you saying to stay away from Windex are absolutely correct; all it does is make a mess! I think I may try Dawn dish soap. It's known for being very good at cutting through things; if it can strip the wax off your paint, it should also be able to remove this mystery film on the inside of my winshield. If that doesn't work I may try the Stoner's...many of you seem to have good results with it....

I know, that NF is some miracle stuff ;0)

Does anyone else find that microfiber towels leave micro fibers all over the inside if their windshield.
Wipe as I do and they still leave fibers. I have to drive into the sun everyday and find it so difficult to get the windsheild spotless.
My best result was Dawn and a bug sponge followed by IG and terry towel.

If done with a clean microfiber and in this exact manner with a streak free glass cleaner this will always work, I have been doing this for 3 years detailing cars.

Step 1: Fold a clean microfiber twice into a square and liberally apply the glass cleaning solution to one side.

Step 2: Wipe the half of the window of the seat you are sitting in up to the rear-view, scrub well and make sure every bit of the window has been wiped with solution with decent pressure.

Step 3: Newspaper, the real dry paper feeling kind typical of the daily paper. Crumple into a wad and buff every inch that is wet until there is no longer any wetness or streaking.

These steps will leave you with a great streak free shine every time, lots of trial and error has led me to this simple but effective technique.

The most successful glass cleaners I have found are everything ammonia free, especially since I clean tinted windows very often. Surprisingly to me; armor all glass cleaner is very effective at leaving a good streak free glass surface when done in this manner. Other than that I am loyal to stoners invisible glass.

No kidding, with a thread about window cleaning, I thought for sure we'd get lucky and not have anyone mention anything about that NuFinish stuff, I was so so wrong

I agree with you, most important I think is #3 Keep wiping until it is completely dry. I found it was easier for me to do so in the sun, but the glass can't be too hot either or it will streak.
