For me it’s Reservoir Dogs, Forrest Gump, Platoon and high plains drifter and the trilogy of fistful of dollars, for a few dollars more and the good, the bad, and the ugly. Too many I can’t remember all. How about you folks?

Add - The Breakfast Club (timeless characters), Blackhawk Down, The Longest Day, Guns of Navarone, Dirty Dozen, Midway (original), Tora, Tora, Tora. Saw all but the first 2 with my dad when I was young.
Sir: forgot all about Breakfast Club.
Anyone remember cobra and the chopped Chevy coupe he destroyed?

- Das Boot.
- Stalingrad (the 1993 film directed by Vilsmaier).
- Bang Boom Bang (as the first and probably best part of the Unna-trilogy).
- One, Two, Three by Billy Wilder
- Le Professionel (with Jean-Paul Belmondo)
- Léon ("Léon, the professionel" with Jean Reno)
- Ronin
- Diva by Jean-Jaques Beineix (probably the best camera work in any movie ever. You can pause anytime, print the still and have a picture that just works - both in regards to composition and colour. Outstanding photography.*)

- The unbearable lightness of being (after the novel by Milan Kundera, which I highly recommend to read as well)
Honourable mention: Barbarella
*Also, when I grow up, I want to become like Serge Gorodish.

I didn’t find the first one very funny, if you can believe that. I watched the second maybe half a dozen times while out at sea, and it played a large part in keeping me sane. That ship sucked, but they had over 100 movies on tape and always stocked a ton of ice cream, so it wasn’t all bad.
I get it. I was on a NOAA research ship for 2 months in 1999 and it was the same. Never a short supply of ice cream, and since I was near the equator, I ate my share of it. It's also where I saw The Deer Hunter for the first time, which should be on my list above. And Apocalypse Now.
Casablanca is number one. Gung Ho (1943), Go For Broke, Paint Your Wagon, Parent Trap, Gone With The Wind (can I say that one?), Wizard of Oz, The Godfather, Blazing Saddles (I am in trouble again), Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, In The Heat Of The Night, El Cid, Dirty Harry, The Mark of Zorro, The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951), Forbidden Planet, Spartacus, Dr. Strangelove, and It's a Wonderful Life. Sorry about all the ones I left off.
World According to Garp. Some very weird stuff, but very well done and to the book.

One ship had an excellent chief steward. She not only made amazing food, she also bought the best treats. I believe one of the ice creams we got was from Germany and it was probably the best vanilla I’ve ever had.
To be fair, life at sea can be a bit depressing, so many good things are amplified as AMAZING in retrospect.
