Classic movies we love

One ship had an excellent chief steward. She not only made amazing food, she also bought the best treats. I believe one of the ice creams we got was from Germany and it was probably the best vanilla I’ve ever had.

To be fair, life at sea can be a bit depressing, so many good things are amplified as AMAZING in retrospect.
Not to keep threadjacking here, but I worked 12hrs/day 7 days a week on that ship. Sounds grueling, but there was literally nothing else to do, except fish if the crew let you use their equipment.

Sorry, OP, I'll let it get back on track.

Some of my ships were watch-standing ships. On the last ship I was on before I got out, 8 hrs watches, 4 hrs work, then any OT I wanted. Around 2 hrs/day was the norm. I did get my work and noon to 1600 watch covered once per week to get some shore time. I had the balls to four watch.

To get back on topic, Dumb and Dummer and The Pest will also be Classics to me.

Another, from when I was young, was Willow. My brother actually memorized pretty much every line. He would annoy all of us by acting out most scenes in parallel! The new Disney + show is awful, btw. I don‘t usually care whether a show is woke, so that’s not my issue. It’s just not good.

The Day the Earth Stood Still - 1951
A Star is Born - Original, 1937
Citizen Kane - 1941 (Outstanding and innovative cinematography)
The Lost Weekend - 1945
Gone With The Wind - 1939
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - 1945 (Based on the novel by Betty Smith, which I've read three times) ❤️ ❤️
High Noon - 1952

There are many other great movies that can be called classics. These are just a few of my long-time favorites. Oh, let's not forget Double Indemnity - 1945 by Billy Wilder. Early Hitchcock, such as Lifeboat and Rope, both innovative in their own ways.

The Outsiders/Silence of the Lambs/Any and all James Bond 007 movies/Star Wars -- all chapters/The Lord of the Rings whole movie collection. Just to name a few of my favorite over the years. Born in 1973 so seen alot of fine examples over the years. As previous mentioned -- Any Clint Eastwood Flick is appealing to me -- John Wayne ranks right up there. Sean Connery was a legend.

Animal House, It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World (what a roster of stars in that movie!) , The Good The Bad and The Ugly, Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Good Neighbor Sam, Airplane! are just a few of mine.

For me it’s Reservoir Dogs, Forrest Gump, Platoon and high plains drifter and the trilogy of fistful of dollars, for a few dollars more and the good, the bad, and the ugly. Too many I can’t remember all. How about you folks?
Don't forget " Once Upon The Time In The West " .
