Well, as "Pablo" mentioned it was mainly a discussion regarding lack of API certification on some of Amsoil motor oils and I'd rather not rehash it here.

I've been using Valvoline VR1 racing oil (20w50) on my 1951 GMC truck since fall of 2007. It is high in zinc, which helps my old inline 6 engine.

So far, smooth & quiet.

I have a few customer wih older 60's & 70's era cars that run the AME 15W40. I suggested it because of the Military Grade Rust Inhibiter for off season storage. Southern Ontario Canada the season for these custom car guys is usually May too Oct. So most of the time their cars are parked.

Just as an FYI, that part of it was irrelevant to me. It was the fact that not only Pablo, but at least two other non-amsoil related members in good standing mentioned the offensiveness of the term used. I appreciate your desire to keep "flare-ups" to a minimum. That said, IIRC, that site with the results as presented have been debated here in the past.

How about a marine oil such as the mercury 25w40 it should work well for a hi performance engine.It is exspensive though.

My friend has a 1977 Corvette, he runs Amsoil. Started out with 10w30, now he's going to 10W-40 as he races it. There is a pic of it in the photo section.
