The 2003 Aztec and 1996 Neon are doing fine with this stuff. Aztec has 1,000 miles on it and the Neon has about 800 miles on it. Oil is still clean, not black as others have had happen. Aztec gets a little better mileage with it and the Neon is still getting 5 days out of a quarter tank. Before the Neon was getting 4 days out of a quarter tank. No top off oil with either vehicle so far but, neither vehicle used any oil on other brands in the past with 3,000 mile oil changes. Time will tell with this oil.

You may be the first owner of a nine year-old Neon that uses no oil.... lol

If you keep changing oil brands, that "good luck" with the Neon may suddenly end & never return. Don't push that OCI envelope too far.... especially with below standard-priced oils.

Triple,
I wouldn't go too far with that "below standard-price oil" bit if I were you. A lot of folks here are buying Chevron at .49 a quart and I don't hear them complaining. I haven't seen anything else that cheap, not even Citgo. And as far as changing brands is concerned...I seem to recall that you recommended "blending". If that isn't "changing brands", what is? BITOG

Rob, glad to hear the good news. Please keep us posted.

Rob,

Im not sure the darkening or blackening is necessarily a bad thing - I think its heat activation of the additives.

As for the MPG, I'm not denying that it has gotten better, but I doubt that it is anything significant at all, i doubt youd ever see more than about 0.1 MPG increase in reality.

Properly maintained 2.0L engines dont use oil... My mother has the 2.0 in her plymouth breeze - its probably a little harder worked overall than in a nean as a result. It gets severe service, and at 5000+ mi OCIs, the results are great - with no use. Just keep maintaining it and you ought to see good life.

Keep us posted, Id be interested in seeing how UOA goes.

I used to use citgo 5w30 motor oil in my cars back a few years ago when i used to get it for $10 a case at sams club.
I never had any problem with it at all i only wish i could find it for $10 a case these days.

Fish,
It's mostly in West Coast places like Kragen, Checker. I'm sure someone here will fill you in.
