My father's T&C has 97K on it. He has never replaced the spark plugs since they advertise 100K spark plug changes. What are the chances the spark plugs can really be removed without damage to the engine now?

good luck on the back ones. i am debating whether to wrestle with these after reading what a nightmare they are in a minivan forum. read up on this issue before you dive into this job! my 99 has 62k. good luck.

Agree with using Blaster and letting it set for a few days, but I have better luck removing plugs with the engine hot. Aluminum expands slightly more than cast iron when hot.

Most sparkplugs should come nickle plated. THe nickle plating acts as anti-sieze. SOme companys like AC/Delco caution against the use of anti-sieze.

Shouldn't be too bad, just do it with the engine cold (especially with an aluminum head if it has one), put some Liquid Wrench or PB Blaster on first for a while. A lot depends on how easy they are to reach and how much leverage you can get. I vacuum around the plugs before I take them out too so no rust falls into the threads or plug hole if they're around an exhaust manifold, but then I'm anal.

Pontiac shop manuals recommend a blast of compressed air after you break the plug loose. Anal suggest excessive, not standard good practice. Keep it up. I have heard of enough stuck plug problems, I will continue to use anti seize.
