Hello guys....

I found Castrol Edge 5QT at Walmart for $26 and picked couple of them to try on 2005 Lexus GX470 (similar to 4Runner V8 engine). It has 54K miles. Currently using stock filter with Castrol synthectic blend at every 5000 miles. I don't plan to extend oil change interval to anything beyound 7500 with synthetic.

Still like to know what is good filter to use along with synthetic oil on GX?. I read that Mobile filters are good but again some confusion around size of the filter and its impact on pressure or something. I didn't understand well

. I don't want to blow the engine by doing wrong combination of products.

Can I also use Castrol Edge on Lexus ES300 (year 2000) with 135K miles. Currently it in Castrol high mileage with stock filters.

Hope experts here would help me choose right filter and suggest something that I might have over loooked. Thanks for your time...

Your filter does not really care what type of oil is going through it. For longer OCI, use a better filter, and of course use the correct filter for your car, but other than that no need to make it difficult.

Purolator, Wix, Mobil 1, K&N, etc will serve you fine. Even a Fram will be OK for 5K. Some filters may actually "sound" better in your engine (ask the Lexus crowd), but none will "blow the engine by doing wrong combination of products".

I just picked up 6 P1s on Amazon for less than $30.00 delivered. River_Rat's analysis convinced me.

Thanks guys for the help and suggetsion. I ordered Pureone from Amazon.

Can I switch to full syntectic oil on my Lexus ES300 (similar to camery V6) which has 135k mile. Currently it runs on Castrol high mileage oil. Will I have issues with seals leaking?.
