I thought I would be looking at a $1,500 bill to replace my excellent, but aged out Pentair pool pump, which was manufactured in 2008. But I was able to secure a Chinese Aquastrong, higher in power and capacity, and also variable speed with onboard timer, for less than $300.

I wish I did not have to forgo the proudly American made unit, but this price is impossible to ignore. Looking forward to its arrival.

I'm in NJ too. I replaced ours with the newer version of the Hayward that died after 8 years of solid use. I think it was $750 for a 1.5 hp single speed. I go with what our pool service company carries.
I have seen those Aquastrong pumps on Amazon for half the price though. Be interesting to learn how they hold up.

I'm on my second Hayward variable speed pump in the 10 years we've had our pool. Please keep us updated on how the new pump is performing. Thank you.
I will. Obviously, there is a real possibility that this thing is straight trash!
