Chinese EV models

It's the internet. Anyone can say anything. I don't think there's a single manufacturer that sells as high of percentage US assembled cars in the US as Tesla does.
Well, Tesla US sales only come from Fremont and Austin. That will change in a year or so when Giga Monterrey comes online and delivers the Model 2.

Tesla will likely dial back the ballistic acceleration, and focus on a reliable, ultra energy efficient, and space efficient commuter to get people around with enough features, and security they would need to comfortably zip around urban environments. Tesla owners appreciate clever solutions and gimmicks that are a result of advancing the tech within vehicles. Until now, the smallest and most basic economy vehicles have been poorly-equipped boxes that serve their drivers little more than moving from A to B. The Model 2 will undoubtedly offer a level of interactivity not typically seen in the smaller, more affordable segments.

Couple that with the ever expanding SuperCharger network. This car will open up markets, like in the untapped Monterrey.

A lot of people feel that way. The younger generation does not and they are the future. They grew up with tech so they naturally take to Tesla.
Some of this younger generation being our future is frightening to be honest. Terrifying in fact!!

Please provide documentation/source as anyone can say anything on the internet.;)

One thing for sure, at the current time, US taxpayers pay up to $7,500 for almost each Tesla model sold to a significant portion of their customers.

I’ll take the one that isn’t assembled in China. 😂
Most Americans could care less where a vehicle is made.
Looks, price and quality rule. It's big talk that they care but they will buy anything that looks good to them at the best price. Im talking majority and boy, just like Japan came onto our shores decades ago, you can bet China might too and if they do, well, we will buy them.

Ok with that logic then the supposed talk of the Chinese made American assembled Tesla will likely fall deaf on those ears too. I really don’t understand the Chinese Tesla argument though.

If they bring the Attos 3 to the US at the prices they are selling for elsewhere Musk and his stock are going to take it right in the shorts.
It seems BYD has already taken the muskrats ev crown.
How does BYD compare to Tesla?

BYD is still the upstart vs. Tesla in terms of pure electric vehicles and premium pricing, but it's targeting the "BEV" title. More broadly, BYD in many ways is the EV maker Tesla has claimed or aspired to be. BYD makes its own batteries and chips, and sells those batteries to third parties such as Tesla.Sep 25, 2023

I'm thinking along those lines too. Elon better keep his fingers crossed and hope that Attos 3 doesn't make it here. Most people in the US will buy something that looks pretty and is cheap and not give a crap where it comes from.

On the other side of that coin, a lot of young people see this as a fad and are not embracing the gee whiz stuff that makes geezers orgasmic. Sales of stick are improving, they are seen as drivers cars. My nephew bought a nice clean used Audi Quattro with a 6 speed stick and loves it.
I see Tesla as the first LED watches, today mechanical watches are very desirable.

Well, actually Tesla, like a lot of brands only contain 60 to 65% American parts that are assembled here

Hours after Tesla disappointing third-quarter results they announced a $3750 price cut on the model Y by eliminating the all-wheel-drive version and replacing it with rear wheel drive only.
This is today’s Barons’s feature article. You might be able to read the whole thing on Apple financial news, or possibly other places without a subscription.

Let's not forget, even though no statistics to show Jeffs "young people" assume he is correct. One must remember the young people are getting paid $7,500 in free tax money to buy the car. But even with that money, Tesla just scrapped the all wheel drive Model Y to lower the price $3,750 I doubt they are doing this because demand is so great. AS they eliminated this very model when demand was great and only sold the more expensive all wheel drive. (according to Barrons story I posted above)
Also as far as "young people" one must keep in mind that Tesla vehicle sales are a tiny, TINY portion of vehicle sales in the USA so the young people thing is not correct.

Out of TEN million cars sold in the USA this year only 453,000 were Tesla's giving them just over 4% of the USA market and by the way, experts have to estimate these sales because Tesla will not release their own sales numbers. Ha, go figure, literally!

BTW- much hated GM was blowing the doors off the sales numbers this year. But, now we got the UAW to send the company back to the dark ages. Good, the UAW will get what they deserve, if musk is correct, right to bankruptcy. Let's continue to offshore auto production. Which history is showing fruitful and SMART.

Sure, there is room for all kinds of cars. I wonder if my old Vette with its Muncie M20 will ever be worth anything? 2nd syncros are pretty beat...

All valid points. I would add that loyalty to the "Big 3" American companies was a major factor. But with the quality problems of the later 1970's and gas prices, things changed. The first Hondas were junk. Then Toyota changed the world with their quality first and business model of repeat customers.
Umm, no, the first Hondas were not junk. We owned a 1976 first gen Civic 1500 CVCC. We had it for fourteen years and it was a great little car and very entertaining to drive. Easy to work on and little went wrong or required attention over the years.

The CVCC was a great car. The 600, not so much, but it did pave the way for the later cars, starting with the CVCC.
