Chevy says plugs good for 97,500….NOT

The Aussie Holden’s had LS3s built in the USA or Mexico like my Chevy/Holden does.

I snagged this pick from a Corvette forum..their LS3 plugs look same-same (57,000 miles)

Good photo and research. Actually regular LS3 engines were assembled in St. Catherines in Canada and the dry sups in Wixom, Michigan. Haven’t heard of a Mexican assembly plant for them.

I've ran several sets of Platinum plugs to 100-125K miles on my Ford 4 cylinder engines without experiencing problems. I only changed them then because I felt guilty they'd been in so long. New plugs neither helped performance or fuel mileage. My '16 Nissan Versa has Iridium plugs and the intake has to be removed to change them so I don't plan to touch them until at least 100K miles unless there's an obvious misfire or I have a consistent drop in fuel mileage. I track fuel mileage with every tank of gas so I pretty much know what to expect. I know it's going to be better in the summer than in the winter and know the approximate range for each time of the year. I don't think I've seen a plug that looked that bad since the '70's when everyone used copper core plugs.

Good photo and research. Actually most LS3 engines were assembled in St. Catherines in Canada but maybe there is some evidence of US or Mexico assembly plants?
Not sure about the Corvette era of engines but the LS3 in my Chevy SS Sedan lists “Engine and transmission made in Mexico” on the window sticker.

So my sticker says “Mexico” and a buddy sent a snap of his SS LS3 and it says “United States”…no Canadian LS3s showing up.

Was your buddy’s engine a dry sump per chance?
No, no dry sumps in Chevy SS Sport sedans, and you are talking about Canadian LS3s put in Corvettes and Camaros.…The production was transferred OUT of Canada for the 2014-17 Holden built Chevy SS Sport Sedans. The window stickers all say “United States” early on then “Mexico”.
No ”Canada”, not 2011, not Camaros but Holden-Chevy SS Sport Sedans 2014 thru 2017.

You’ll have to show better proof than the window stickers. Chances are those engines were shipped to the USA, then trans shipped to Australia.

I don’t need to prove what I know. You need to accept the fact that you can be wrong…
And I guess my engine and tranny were made in Canada and trans shipped to MEXICO….that makes sense, yea! That’s why “Mexico“ is cast on the oil pan, and on the window sticker.

Here is some historical LS3 data
2014

Gen IV
LS3  (all now showing build in Silao, Mexico - change from 2013)
Camaro SS (Cpe. Conv.) 6.2 LS3 - 6.2L V-8 OHV SFI 103.25 x 92 10.7 426 hp (318 kW) @ 5900* 420 lb-ft (569 Nm) @ 4600*

SS Performance Sedan 415 hp (309 kW) @ 5900* 415 lb-ft (563 Nm) @ 4600*

I pulled one plug on my Chevy SS LS3 @ 75,000 miles. Pictured next to a new one.
Looks like they are all coming out short of the recommended 97,500!
I just replaced the spark plugs in the daughter's 2008 V8 Trailblazer. The plugs with about 70,000 miles on them were very similar to yours.

I couldn't believe the amount of tip recession.

my 2015 Chevrolet SS sedan built in January of 2015 also shows the engine and 6 speed automatic made in Mexico...it is widely known on the SS Forum that the LS3 and at least the automatic transmissions are Mexico made...

the 2015 owners manual also shows the 41-110 AC Delco spark plug, GM part number 12621258...RockAuto.com still shows the 41-110 as the correct OEM plug...

That’s plainly stated it is current production for the CRATE ENGINE!…
NOT at all anything there about the 2013-2017 engines with “Mexico” and “USA” cast into the Aluminum. These LS3s were built in Tonawanda, NY and Silao, Mexico.
I get it that you are fanatically Canada proud, but not all LS3 engines were made there.

Hmm, they listed the Chevy SS as one of the vehicles and there was only a mention of the assembly plant at St. Catharines. St. Catherine’s was strictly an assembly plant, so anything cast into the aluminum would have said USA. Therefor that’s not much of a lead. Maybe look for Hencho en Mexico on your build tag.

I wonder what reason the General would have for listing their LS3 as built in Mexico on their 2014 and 2015 SS sedans if they were built in Canada or the US?...

I wouldn't tout GM Authority as being the GM authority...they have been known to be wrong...

All 8 out and replaced with same plug. (Bought them last year when GM had a rebate)
Three still have a center electrode
Holly - SH$%
I have never seen plugs so beat up - do you drive the Baja race every weekend?

That is crazy!!!
