GoldenRod,

I use Peak long life. Some use Peak Global. Both work great. There are others out there that would be fine as well. I would just stay away from the abrasive silicates.

The internet forums never cease to amaze me.

I changed the oil regularly, changed the air and fuel filters about every 20,000 miles, changed the transmission and coolant at FIVE YEARS OLD, and I'm hammered for TOO MUCH MAINTENANCE??

Hahahaha.... man, ain't that true. Especially in this place where there are plenty of self-certified auto experts.

I think you did a great job of caring for the truck and I'm sure it paid off when you sold it. I'm at 40K with my 5.3L Sierra and prolly need to change the coolant. What did you go with? I've read good things about Zerex. What do ya like?

Re: oil, while I now use GC I did like the Chev Supreme 10-30 in my 5.3. If I were running a dino that would be my choice. It's an excellent oil for the price.

Bret,

I just had the local radiator shop dump in 2 gallons of Prestone I bought.

Prestone is probably thought of as Fram Filters among the fin-heads, but who cares?
