Chevron has changed their formula to match Havoline's Deposit Shield. Since the Havoline has a new bottle for their new formula, I was just wondering if Chevron would be changing their bottle too. After all, how would we tell the old Chevron from the new Chevron otherwise?

Great Question, I would like to stock up on the old stuff. But wondering myself if i would be getting the new brew and not even know it.

That's interesting, I hadn't heard that Chevron had also
changed their formulation. I assume that your talking
about "Chevron Supreme" with Isosyn?

Does someone have a link to the reformulation data?

I thought it was their iso cracker cracking dino into smaller units - eg the syn but that still group 3 oils

what is isosyn?

Beats the heck out of me. Something that they stamp on
their bottles to make you think that it's the best and
greatest I guess.

Everyone knows that oil marketing brings out the best in
advertising.

"Formulated with ISOSYN® Technology
All lubricants in the Delo® Advantage range utilise ISOSYN® technology, a patented process that purifies and refines mineral base oils by removing impurities and contaminants such as nitrogen, sulphur and wax.
ISOSYN® mineral based lubricants provide performance equivalent to synthetics, at a lower cost. They also provide superior oxidation stability for: Reduced wear, Improved filtration, Improved viscosity, Reduced engine deposits"

IsoSyn is Chevron's patented and trademarked hydrocracking and hydroisomerization refining process for producing Group II, II+, and III base oils.

I'm thinking if they don't change the bottle, then there must be a date code of some kind.

Chevron bottles haven't changed a whole lot. Maybe some of the wording on the bottle. The picture has been the same for a long time (picture of a road). The wording in the front was something like Proven Protection, Turbo, and Fuel Economy (energy conserving).

Good catch on Chevron changing both its oils ( Havo and Chev Supreme) to the thinner versions. Probably still some debate and review of whether the specific add pack on Havo is worth the extra dollar or whether there really even is one thats different.

As I usually mix Supreme and delo I won't be spending the extra $1 on Havo. Actually the thinner new version of Supreme and Havo nmake it easier to mix and stay in between 5-30 and 10-30 with my Delo supreme. I previously used Supreme 5-20 but now 5-30 will do and is easier to find at Kragen sales.
