Chevron Supreme Still The Same ?

I have 2 year old Chevron Supreme and using it in '94 LS400, the engine run very smooth. I don't think the formula was changed for the last several years.
Halvoline Deposit Shield is very good too, it is one of the best conventional oils, specially for $0.49/qt after rebate I paid 2 years ago.

Last time I looked, which was perhaps 6 months ago, the spec sheets for the Chevron Supreme and Havoline DS were EXACTLY the same, down to the very last number. I concluded that they're the same oil. I'm running the Chevron Supreme in 5w30 in my '07 Corolla and my '07 T&C, and both engines run real smooth on it. I noticed an immediate improvement in "feel" on the Toyota after draining out Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20. This engine calls for either 5W-20 or 5w30, depending on where you look for the oil grade spec.
I have 16 quarts of DS 5w30 I bought at Walmart on clearance a while ago, for the Toyota...so that's 4 oil changes. I expect the DS will run just as well in it as the Chevron Supreme does.

Well i remember when deposit shield first came out the guys on here werent happy with the change. less moly and it was a thinner oil then the old havoline. Just wanted to see what they thought now since its been in use for awhile. I loved the old stuff, but i am running out of it. I thought maybe i could get the old potion still from buying chevron supreme. But i guess that aint happening, if its exactly the same..WOW, im gonna miss that old stuff.
I like that it's a bit thinner. Why? Both vehicles in which I'm using it officially call for a 5W-20 oil. The DS formula is about as thin as it gets for a 30 grade... I haven't noticed any fuel economy changes between 5W-20 and 5w30. In fact, I've gotten some of the best fuel economy in both vehicles while on the 5w30 (from the blue Chevron bottles). Lifetime average on the Corolla sits at about 36 MPG right now.

I liked the new Deposit Shield. I had two great used oil analysis with it in my Integra, one was less than stellar but it was also when I added a bottle of Auto-RX that had the viscosity of thick Jelly since I added it in the winter... that could've caused some of the wear, who knows. It wasn't really that bad. I'd use it again without hesitation.

On the bottle is a date/time stamp when it was bottled. Post it and someone will decipher it.
I think the old bottles of Havoline had the date code clearly printed on them in the format: "08 24 06" on the top of the back of the bottle. The old bottle of Havoline Synthetic I have sitting next to me does, at least.
