Chevron Supreme, SM flavor

While travelling over the holidays, I stopped at a Chevron station to "drain and fill". I noticed that the new Chevron Supreme SM bottles no longer carry the Iso-Syn logo. There were some SL bottles left on the shelf (3.09 a quart- yikes!)that had the familiar Iso-Syn logo. Does this indicate a formula change, and is the Chevron Supreme still a quality oil?

Not too long ago this basic topic was answered along the lines of: Different parts of the country get base stocks and additives from different places. Thus, the product where you are may or may not have the Iso-Syn bases.

Here, the 5W30, 10W30, and even 10W40 all still carry the Iso-Syn logo (just saw the 5W30 and 10W40 again at Costco last week) both on the bottles and the boxes (quart cases).

I purchased a case of 5w30 SM from Costco Wholesale a few months back. The individual quarts did not have the Iso-syn label, but the case that they came in did.

As for what I have seen in my travels ,is that Chevron/Havoline use all group II plus,they have a special refining procedure,that may call for the Iso-Syn logo.............BL
